Fink, the 2014 MAC XC Champion and EMU team captain, made his season debut at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invite, finishing in 15th place and crossing the finish line in 24:07.9. Had it not been for fallen runners creating an issue near the start of the race, Fink would have likely performed even better. Fink led the Eagles to a sixth-place finish at the race, upsetting No. 17 New Mexico and No. 18 Arizona State in the process.
