Cross Country Sets Out for George Dales Invite

The women’s 6k starts at 10 a.m. while the men’s 8k starts at 10:40 a.m.
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University cross country programs travel Friday, Sep. 19, for the George Dales Invite, hosted by Western Michigan University, at the Prairies Golf Club, in Kalamazoo, Mich. The women will compete in the 6k, starting at 10:00 a.m., followed by the men's 8k, starting at 10:40 a.m.

LAST TIME AT THE GEORGE DALES INVITE
The men finished first in the 8k with 35 points, and the women finished third in the 6k with 69 points. In the women's race, the Eagles had two runners place in the top 10, including the winner of the race, Marta Moreno, followed by Anita Zaro in ninth place. Returners Lucy Jones (Haverhill, England/Normanhurst School), Liv Hatch (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso), and Cora Henderson (Courtice, Ontario/Courtice Secondary) also scored for the Eagles.
On the men's side, four runners finished in the top 10. Sam Peterson (Charveloix, Mich./Charlevoix), finished second in 24:23, followed by Ronan Codyre (Auckland, New Zealand/Macleans College), Ty Dailey (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney), and Lachlan Cornelius (Queensland, Brisbane, Australia/Anglican Church Grammar School), who finished fourth, fifth, and ninth, respectively.
LAST TIME OUT
Eastern was at the Jeff Drenth Memorial, hosted by Central Michigan University, Aug. 29. Both teams competed in the 5k and finished fifth, the men with 131 points, and the women with 149 points. Leading the way for the women was Hatch, with a time of 18:29.3 (27th), while Jimmy Geller (London, England/Davenant Foundation School) led the way for the men with a personal-best time of 15:07.5 (14th).
PERSONAL BESTS
Most recently at the Jeff Drenth Memorial, Aug. 29, the teams combined for a total of seven personal-best times in the 5k.
