Four Eagles set a personal-best mark

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's and women's cross country programs competed in the George Dales Invite, hosted by Western Michigan University at the Prairies Golf Club, in Kalamazoo, Mich., Friday, Sept. 19.

The men's team finished sixth with 131 points, while the women's team finished eighth with 217 points, as the teams combined for a total of four personal-best times.

In the men's race, two Eagles finished in the top 10. Kian Wiles (Hull, England/St. Mary's College) led with a time of 25:01.9, earning seventh-place, followed by Ty Dailey (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney), with a time of 25:08.6, earning ninth-place. Next came Jimmy Geller (London, England/Davenant Foundation School), in 26:10.0 (36th); Wyatt Houchens (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier), in 26:16.5 (39th); and Isaac Garcia (Greely, Colo./South County), in 26:29.5 (46th) to finish the scoring.

Leading the way for the Eagles in the women's race was Liv Hatch (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) with a time of 22:05.7 (18th), followed by Lucy Jones (Haverhill, England/Normanhurst School), with a time of 22:51.4 (43rd). Next came Cara Weber (Union, Ky./Larry A. Ryle), in 23:32.3 (66th); Sophie Emin (Easton, Pa./Easton Area), in 23:37.4 (72nd); and Erika Van Loton (Garden City, Mich./Huron Valley Lutheran), with a personal-best of 23:46.2 (79th) to finish the scoring.
The men's race had 103 athletes compete, while the women's race featured 117.
