Cross Country Travels to South Bend for Joe Piane Invitational

The women’s 5k starts at 11:10 a.m. while the men’s 8k starts at 12:30 p.m.
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University cross country programs travel Friday, Oct. 3, for the Joe Piane Invitational, hosted by University of Notre Dame, at Burke Golf Course, in South Bend, Ind.
The women will compete in the open division of the 5k, starting at 11:10 a.m., followed by the men's gold division 8k, starting at 12:30 p.m.

LAST TIME AT THE JOE PIANE INVITATIONAL
The men raced in the gold division 8k and finished in third place with 150 points. Sam Peterson (Charlevoix, Mich./Charlevoix) led with a time of 24:24.5 to take 10th overall, followed by Ty Dailey (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) (24:25.6 - 11th). Eastern also had men compete in the open division 8k, however did not have enough athletes in the race to score.
The women placed fifth in the open division 5k with 135 points, along with placing 15th in the blue division 5k, with 418 points. Returner Lucy Jones (Haverhill, England/Normanhurst School), scored in the blue 5k, while Sophie Emin (Easton, Pa./Easton Area/Rutgers), Frankie Moore (Columbia, Md./Oakland Mills), and Alynna Wilson (Lebanon. Ohio/Lebanon), all scored in the open 5k.
LAST TIME OUT
Eastern was at the George Dales Invite, hosted by Western Michigan University, Sep. 19. The men placed sixth in the 8k with 131 points, while the women's team finished eighth with 217 points. In the men's race, two Eagles finished in the top 10. Kian Wiles (Hull, England/St. Mary's College) led with a time of 25:01.9, earning seventh-place, followed by Ty Dailey (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney), with a time of 25:08.6, earning ninth-place. Leading the way for the Eagles in the women's race was Liv Hatch (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) with a time of 22:05.7 (18th).
PERSONAL BESTS
Most recently at the George Dales Invite, Sep. 19, the teams combined for a total of four personal-best times.
