Cross Country Women Prep for George Dales Invite

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University women's cross country team heads to Kalamazoo, Mich., Friday, Sept. 18, to compete in the George Dales Invite, hosted by Western Michigan University at the Prairies Golf Club. The Eagles enter the meet off a strong season-opening performance at the Jeff Drenth Memorial, where six runners recorded personal bests or career milestones.

Last Time Out
Eastern Michigan opened the 2026 season at the Jeff Drenth Memorial in Mount Pleasant, Mich., Friday, Sept. 4. Christiana Coleman (Pompano Beach, Fla./Dillard/Florida) led the squad with a seventh-place finish in 18:26.6, matching her career-best 5K time. Sophie Emin (Easton, Pa./Easton Area/Rutgers) was right behind in eighth place, crossing in 18:28.0 for a personal best. Kaiya Fujioka (Whitby, Ontario/Brooklin) finished 14th in 18:47.1 in her collegiate debut, while Erika Van Loton (Garden City, Mich./Huron Valley Lutheran) placed 16th in 18:58.6 and Frankie Moore (Columbia, Md./Oakland Mills) finished 17th in 18:58.9 — both personal bests. Kaelyn Becken (Perrysburg, Ohio/Perrysburg) rounded out the top finishers in 18th place with a time of 18:59.8, a personal best in her first collegiate race. Liv Hatch (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) finished 32nd in 19:46.2. In all, six Eagles posted personal bests on the day.

At the 2025 George Dales Invite, Eastern Michigan's women finished eighth overall with 217 points in a field of 117 athletes. Hatch led the Eagles with an 18th-place finish in 22:05.7. Lucy Jones followed in 43rd (22:51.4), Cara Weber placed 66th (23:32.3), Emin finished 72nd (23:37.4) and Van Loton rounded out the scoring five in 79th place with a time of 23:46.2 — a personal best for her at the meet.
