Senior outside hitter Krista Blakely had an outstanding weekend in two matches against the University at Buffalo, Oct. 28, and at Akron University, Oct. 29. Blakley kicked off the weekend with a then-season-high 16 kills against the Bulls. She followed that performance with another great effort against the Zips in which she recorded a season-best 17 kills to lead Eastern Michigan. Those kills were part of an incredible .424 hitting percentage for Koger that helped lead EMU to a critical, five-set win over Akron. Blakley matched her career-high with 18 total points against the Zips.
Eastern Michigan mustered a .352 hitting percentage against the Zips, by far its highest mark of the season. The total is the best for any Eastern Michigan team since Sept. 11, 2021, when the team hit the same mark in a match against Belmont University. Eastern Michigan has won five of its last six matches inside James A. Rhodes Arena, marking the team's best six-match road stretch against the Zips in program history.
