Graduate student Taige Bryant outdid himself yet again in the weight throw, besting his school-record toss of 22.56m with a launch of 22.85m at the Akron Quad Meet, Jan. 14. For Bryant, his 22.85m throw currently ranks second in the nation and first in the Mid-American Conference. Additionally, excluding other Eastern Michigan throwers, 22.85m is over three meters further than the next-best MAC thrower (19.53m). For perspective, at last year’s NCAA Indoor Championships, Bryant took eleventh with a toss of 21.13m. Meanwhile, 22.85m would have earned him third in the competition.
