GOODYEAR, Ariz. (EMUEagles.com) – The Valley of the Sun has treated the Eastern Michigan University men's golf team well over the years. Tuesday's final round at the Loyola Intercollegiate did not stray from that tradition. Head Coach Bruce Cunningham's crew notched a 286, the second-lowest 18-hole score of the season, on the final day of competition on the par 72, 7,015-yard Palm Valley Golf Club.
Eastern finished the three-day event with a tally of 864 (296-282-286) in 16th place. North Dakota State won the team race at 16-under 824, 15 shots in front of Northern Colorado and Loyola (Md). NDSU's Jake Skarperud also claimed the individual medalist honors, breaking the school's 54-hole tournament scoring record.
Senior Cam Kellett (London, Ontario-Saint Thomas Aquinas-Nevada) finished in a tie for 16th place with a three-day total of 211 (73-67-71). The London, Ontario, native's five-under second round was the second-lowest single-round tally by an EMU student-athlete this season. The finish marked Kellet's ninth top-20 showing during his EMU career.
