SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's golf team will return to action Monday, March 11, and Tuesday, March 12, with three rounds of golf at the Ross Collegiate Classic at Mid Pines Golf Club. Action on the par-72, 6,657-yard course beginning at 9:15 a.m. Fans can follow along with live scoring on Golfstat.com.

In addition to the Eagles and host team George Mason, the 16-team event will include squads from Bowling Green, Georgetown, James Madison, Loyola Chicago, Loyola MD, Miami, Ohio, Old Dominion, St. Bonaventure, St. Joe's, St. John's, Towson, William & Mary, and Xavier.

On the opening day, EMU will be paired with Ohio, St. Bonaventure, and Georgetown.

A rarity among Donald Ross masterpieces, Mid Pines Golf Course remains exactly as the world renowned architect built it in 1921 and impeccably restored by Kyle Franz in 2013. The renovation was honored with GOLF Magazine's Best U.S. Resort Renovation and Restoration of the Year. The course, often characterized as "pure Donald Ross," was designed to fit perfectly into the natural landscape, as was Ross's signature approach.

Mid Pines was not intended to be a daunting challenge for the finest players competing under championship conditions, but was envisioned as a course that would offer friendly competition for members and guests of a private club and resort. However, fanatics and pros have taken note of the perfectly preserved course and Mid Pines has become a classic gem, which has now played host to many national competitions including the 2022 US Women's Open.

This will be EMU's second appearance in the four-year old event. Last year, Eastern finished 16th in the extremely competitive field with a 902 (303-301-298). Patrick Deardorff (Clarkston, Mich.-Clarkston) finished tied for 36th, as George Washington's Jakub Hrinda  (66-69-68=203) was the individual champion at 13-under. South Florida won the team race at 15-under 849, 10 shots in front of Loyola (Md.).
