Peter Sauerbrei *** 6-2 Sr. Kingston, Ontario

Senior Peter Sauerbrei carded a three-round total of 213 (75-70-68) to claim the individual championship and help the Eastern Michigan University men’s golf team finish as the team champion Saturday at the 37^th Annual Marshall Invitational in Huntington, W.Va., April 7-8. Sauerbrei defeated Marshall junior Shawn Warren in a playoff to win medalist honors. Sauerbrei shot a final-round 68 to finish at 213 (75-70-68) and force a playoff with Warren, who also fired a final-round 68. Saurbrei birdied number 10, the first playoff hole, to claim medalist honors over Warren. The first place finish was Sauerbrei’s best in his three-year EMU career.

The Kingston, Ontario previous best finish of the season came at the Orange County National Invitational, March 4-5, when he tied for 36^th with a 221 (74-69-78). Sauerbrei’s 68 in Saturday’s third round was his lowest round of the season, besting his 69 in the Orange County National’s second-round
