After 4-0 Start to 2024 Season, Eastern Soccer Suffers First Loss at Big 12’s Cincinnati

CINCINNATI, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – After starting 4-0 for the first time since the 1999 season, the Eastern Michigan University soccer team suffered its first loss of the 2024 campaign at the Big 12 Conference's University of Cincinnati, 3-1, Sunday, Sept. 1, at Gettler Stadium.
How It Happened
A span of 6:08 in the first half resulted in all three of the match's goals as Cincinnati scored at the 16:06 mark, the 18:30 mark, and the 22:14 mark.
Sophomore Cameryn Susey (Westerville, Ohio/Olentangy Berlin) scored a goal for Eastern after stealing an errant Bearcat pass in the 85th minute, netting home a right-footed strike from 18 yards out.

» Eastern moved to 4-1-0 on the year while Cincinnati moved to 3-1-1.
» Susey scored her second goal of the season. Susey's other goal also came in the 85th minute against Oakland University, Aug. 15.
» Sophomore Sarah Van Euwen (Avon Lake, Ohio/Avon Lake) played all 90 minutes for the fifth-straight match to open the season while redshirt sophomore Scarlett Thomas (Sterling Heights, Mich./Utica Academy/Missouri) has back-to-back matches with 90 minutes on the pitch.
