RIO VERDE, Ariz. (EMUEagles.com) — The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team heads west to the Grand Canyon State to participate in the 21st Annual Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational, Feb. 22-25.  This year's field is composed of 20 teams with four out of five individual scores counting toward the team total each day.

The 54-hole tournament, hosted by Western Michigan, runs from Friday through Sunday on the Quail Run Golf Course at Rio Verde Country Club. Live scoring will be available at GolfGenius.com.

The event features seven Mid-American Conference programs: Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Ohio, and WMU.

The field also includes Bradley, Butler, California Baptist, Evansville, Illinois State, Kennesaw State, Loyola (Ill.), Missouri State, Oakland, South Dakota, Utah Tech, Wichita State, and Xavier.

Originally known as the East/West Rio Verde Invitational, WMU, won the inaugural invitational in the spring of 2003 with a score of 614. The event moved from a 36-hole to a 54-hole format in 2005.

In 2023,  Eastern Michigan finished 18th, posting a score of 938 (318-308-313). Xavier posted a commanding 17 stroke victory over Kennesaw State, posting an 875 (293-289-293). Kyleigh Dull was the team's best finisher, posting a 230 (79-75-76) for 41st.
 
Senior Anna Watson (Ashland, Ohio-Ashland) will lead the lineup for the Eagles. Senior Natai Apichonlati (Bangkok, Thailand-The Regent's International School), freshman Riley Kim (Aldie, Va./Lightridge), freshman Gabriella Tapp (South Lyon, Mich./South Lyon), and junior Grace Halcrow (Richmond Hill, Ontario/Bill Crothers Secondary/Simon Fraser/Glenville State) round out the rotation for Head Coach Stephanie Jennings.
