RIO VERDE, Ariz. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University senior Anna Watson (Ashland, Ohio-Ashland) tallied a 54-hole tally of 225 (79-70-75) for a tie for 46th place on the final day of the Rio Verde Invitational, Feb. 25. For Watson, it marked the 31st time in her career she has finished inside the top-50 at a tournament.
Illinois State's Ali Schrock won the event after finishing with a five-under par 211 (72-69-70) on the par 72, 6,024-yard Quail Run Golf Club setup.
As a team, Eastern Michigan finished 18th at the competition, posting a score of 916 (312-300-304). Cal Baptist posted a five stroke victory over Xavier and Illinois State, posting an 865 (292-282-291).
How It Happened
Watson tallied five birdies and 37 pars over the course of the three rounds for the Eagles. Meanwhile, senior Natai Apichonlati (Bangkok, Thailand-The Regent's International School) took 53rd with a three-day cumulative of 227 (75-78-74).
Freshman Gabriella Tapp (South Lyon, Mich./South Lyon) carded a 231 (79-77-75), while classmate Riley Kim (Aldie, Va./Lightridge) finished in a tie for 91st with a 237 (83-75-79). Junior Grace Halcrow (Richmond Hill, Ontario/Bill Crothers Secondary/Simon Fraser/Glenville State) posted an 83 on Sunday for a 244 (79-82-83) in 96th.
