YORKTOWN, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team heads to the Hoosier State for the Brittany Kelly Cardinal Classic hosted by Ball State University, Sept. 18-19, at The Players Club.

The Players Club plays as a par-72 and has a total length of 6226 yards. There will be three total rounds, two on Monday (36 holes) and one on Tuesday (18 holes). Both days will start play at 8:30 a.m.

There are 13 schools participating, including Eastern Michigan, Ball State, Cleveland State, Dayton, IUPUI, Loyola, Ohio, Purdue Fort Wayne, UIC, UNC Asheville, Valparaiso, Western Illinois, and Western Michigan.

Eastern Michigan will see its entire roster of seven golfers in action led by freshman Riley Kim (Aldie, Va./Lightridge), senior Paige Zolciak (Perrysburg, Ohio/St. Ursula Academy), junior Alyssa DiMarcantonio (Maple, Ontario/Tommy Douglas Secondary School), senior Natai Apichonlati (Bangkok, Thailand/The Regent's International School), and senior Anna Watson (Ashland, Ohio-Ashland), who are all playing in groups of three.

The Eagles will also send two players as individuals in the tournament, which include senior Sophia Wygonik (Westland, Mich./Livonia Franklin) and freshman Gabriella Tapp (South Lyon, Mich./South Lyon).

EMU has participated in the event every fall since 2019, including finishing as the runner-up in 2021.

Last year, the Eagles finished in sixth after firing a two-day total of 899 (305-291-303). Loyola earned the overall team title after shooting an 879 (+15). Individually, Apichonlati recorded a six-over 222 (73-73-76) to finish 12th out of 71 competitors.

The tournament will be just the second event that the Eagles have played in for the fall of 2023. The program participated in the A-Ga-Ming Invite, hosted by Central Michigan where they finished in a tie for eighth place out of 13 schools who participated.     The Eagles were led by Kim, who posted the best round by an Eagle this season, recording a 70 (-2) in the third round.

Eastern will also look to lower its team-low total round this year of 299 which was done in the third round of the A-Ga-Ming Invite. Last year, the Eagles broke 300 as a team on four different occasions: second round of the Georgia State Invitational (299), third round of the Florida Falcon Classic (294), first round of GolfWeek Red Sky Classic (293) and a season-best 291 in the second round of the Brittany Kelly Cardinal Classic.
