De Bock Climbs to Second at MAC Championships

Junior moved up one spot while the team fell to third place with one round to play

AKRON, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – Savannah de Bock moved into second place on the individual leaderboard as the Eastern Michigan University women's golf team sits third overall following the conclusion of the second round of play at the 2026 Mid-American Conference Women's Golf Championships, April 27, at Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio. The Eagles are 15 strokes behind defending champion Kent State University with one round to play.
Eastern shot 10-over 290 on the second day of action on the par-70, 6,105-yard Fazio Course to fall to third place with Bowling Green State University moving up to take over second place behind the Golden Flashes. KSU leads at 4-under 556 with the Falcons (7-over 567) and Eagles (11-over 571) trailing. Ball State University and the University of Akron round out the top five teams at 25-over 585 and 29-over 589, respectively.
Individually, de Bock (Ecaussinnes-d'enghien, Belgium/Institut de l'Enfant-Jésus-Lycée/Georgia) shot Even-par 70 to sit at 2-under 138 with KSU's Veronika Kedronova remaining in the lead at 4-under 136. Leon Takagi of KSU is the only other player in the field under par as she sits third at 1-under 139. Baiyok Sukterm (Bang Yi, Thailand/Panitchayakan Rajdamnern Tech/Lindsey Wilson) is the only other Eagle in the top 10 as her 3-over 143 has her in a two-way tie for ninth place.
Janae Leovao (Oceanside, Calif./El Camino/Long Beach State) is just outside the top 10 as her 4-over 144 has her tied for 11th while Jasmine Leovao (Oceanside, Calif./El Camino/Long Beach State) is tied for 15th at 6-over 146. Erina Tan (Belmont, Western Australia/Mount Lawley Senior) moved up one spot into a tie for 25th at 9-over 149.
Team Notes
» The Eagles shot 290 in the second round, which ranks tied for 24th on the single round ledger in program history. The score also tied for the second-lowest all-time at the MAC Championships for Eastern, equaling the 290 recorded by the 2016 squad in its final round.
» The rounds of 281 and 290 recorded by the Eagles this year mark the first time in program history Eastern has recorded two rounds at 299 or lower in the opening two rounds of play.

» Savannah de Bock remained in the top two of the standings as she sits second at 2-under 138 through 36 holes. Her second-round 70 tied for the third-lowest score for an Eastern player at the MAC Championships one day after her 68 broke the record.
» Savannah de Bock made history for the Eagles at the MAC Championships as she became the first player in program history to record multiple rounds of 70 or lower in the same tournament. She also became the first Eastern player to record multiple rounds at 70 or lower in a career.
» Baiyok Sukterm shot 72 in the second round, which tied for the 14th-lowest single round score at a MAC event in program history. She joined Savannah de Bock and Karyn Lee Ping as the only players in program history with two rounds of 72 or lower at the MAC Championships in a career with Sukterm and de Bock accomplishing the feat in the same tournament while Ping shot 72 in both 2014 and 2016.
