DiMarcantonio Cards Fourth Top-20 Finish at Brittany Kelly Classic

YORKTOWN, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team wrapped up play at the two-day, 54-hole Brittany Kelly Cardinal Classic, held at The Players Club in Yorktown, Ind. today, Sept. 19.
The Eagles finished tied with Cleveland State University for eighth place overall, after firing a two-day total of 915 (306-302-307). The host Cardinals earned the overall team title after shooting an 875 (295-289-291) for the event. EMU was just six shots off a top-five finish at the invite.
Individually, junior Alyssa DiMarcantonio (Maple, Ontario/Tommy Douglas Secondary School) recorded an 11-over 227 (73-72-82) to finish tied for 15th out of 81 competitors. It marked the fourth top-20 showing of the Maple, Ontario, native's career in 23 all-time events.
How It Happened
Behind DiMarcantonio, freshman Riley Kim (Aldie, Va./Lightridge) continued her strong start to her collegiate career as she tied for 32nd with a 230 (74-77-79). Senior Anna Watson (Ashland, Ohio/Ashland) improved round over round to tie for 38th with a 231 (82-76-73). Seniors Natai Apichonlati (Bangkok, Thailand-The Regent's International School) and Paige Zolciak (Perrysburg, Ohio/St. Ursula Academy) rounded out the scoring, with a 232 (79-77-76) and a 248 (80-89-79), respectively.
Playing as individuals, Senior Sophia Wygonik (Westland, Mich./Livonia Franklin) recorded a 54-hole career-best score of 234 (78-80-76) to tie for 48th. Wygonik's previous standard of 235 was also set at The Players Club back on Sept. 20-21,2021. Freshman Gabriella Tapp (South Lyon, Mich./South Lyon) posted rounds of 84, 81, and 80 to tie for 69th with a 245.
