YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- Rookie Kate Robinson (Madison Heights, Mich./Lamphere) scored her first career goal and junior Meagan Lukowski (Bay City, Mich./Bay City Western) notched the fifth of her career, as the Eastern Michigan University soccer team played visiting St. Bonaventure University to a 2-2 draw Thursday, Aug. 17, at Scicluna Field. The Eagles (0-0-1), who trailed, 1-0, at halftime, took a 2-1 lead midway through the second half before the Bonnies (0-0-1) equalized in the 77' for the draw.
How It Happened
Playing in a steady rain early on, both teams tried to dial in the pace of the ball on the wet turf with each side having a few shots, but none finding the net. That changed in the 13' as Ami Komori took a pass from Olivia Allen at the top of the 18-yard box and played a shot in off the right post to give the Bonnies a 1-0 lead. The Eagles had several chances the rest of the half, finishing with a 12-4 advantage in attempts, but were unable to find the netting to trail, 1-0, at the break.
Following halftime, the rain made way for sunshine and the Eagles took advantage of better tactical play as they scored twice in the space of seven minutes to take the lead. First, Robinson opened her scoring account as she collected a loose ball at the top of the box, moved to her right, and fired the ball into the corner of the goal to knot things at 1-1. Eastern continued to apply pressure, which paid off in a big way as Lukowski pressed the keeper, Chiara Gottinger, before stealing the ball inside the box. She moved on frame and sent a shot into the net to stake the hosts to a 2-1 lead. That lead lasted just six minutes, however, as Allen played to Komori at the top of the box once again with the Bonnies' striker netting her second to bring about the eventual final score, 2-2.
Game Notes
» Eastern moved to 0-0-1 on the year following the draw.
» The Eagles are now 12-8-9 in their first game of the season and have posted back-to-back 2-2 draws after finishing last year's opener with Western Illinois University by the same score, Aug. 18, 2022.

Of the six, both Susey (midfield) and Holland (goalkeeper) earned their first starts.
» Robinson opened her scoring account as she netted the first goal of her collegiate career.
» Lukowski, who was second on the team in scoring last year, picked up the fifth goal of her career.

» Mary Grimes (Commerce Township, Mich./Walled Lake Central) played the full 90 minutes against the Bonnies, marking the defender's first full contest as an Eagle.
