 – The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team placed second (194.450) in a tight quad meet on senior day, Sunday, March 7, inside the Convocation Center. Iowa State University (195.975) earned first place while Bowling Green State University placed third (194.300), and the United States Air Force Academy took fourth (192.200). The competition was the last home meet for the Eagles, as they honored three graduating seniors post-meet: Cortney Bezold (Maineville, Ohio-Bishop Fenwick), Brianna Price (Kings Mountain, N.C.-Homeschool), and Jada Rondeau (Savage, Minn.-Central).
 
The Green and White started on vault, finishing with 48.675 points on the apparatus. Junior Kara Roberts (Pinckney, Mich.-Pinckney) led the Eagles with a score of 9.825, which tied her career-high, landed her in fifth. Senior Cali Harden (Saline, Mich.-Saline) finished with a score of 9.775 while junior Carly Kosanovich (Moon Twp., Pa.-Moon Area) and sophomore Molly Parris (Hudson, Ohio-Hudson) both scored 9.750. Sophomore Hadyn Crossen (Carmel, Ind.-Carmel) added a score of 9.575 for EMU.
 
Moving on to bars, EMU scored 47.750, putting them in third place after the second rotation (96.425). Bezold led all Eagles with a score of 9.850, to earn third place. Parris finished with a score of 9.750, while Crossen tacked on a score of 9.725. Freshman Raisa Boris (Brooklyn Park, Minn.-Park Center) and Rondeau added scores of 9.700 and 8.725, respectively. From there, the Eagles looked to pick up steam moving to beam, which has been their best event this season.
 
Eastern was strong in the balance beam rotation. Crossen and Rondeau paced the squad, both scoring 9.825 and tying for third. Sophomore Mickayla Stuckey (Union City, Ind.-Indiana Connections Academy) added a score of 9.800 to tie her season-high, good for sixth place. Junior Shannon Gregory (Edison, N.J.-John P. Stevens), Parris, and Price each scored 9.750. The Eagles totaled 145.375 points at the end of the third rotation, as they remained third place entering the final rotation.
 
EMU finished strong in its floor performances, trying to complete a comeback and totaling 49.075 in the event. Gregory and Rondeau led the way for Eastern, each grabbing a score of 9.850, tying for second place. Boris finished with a score of 9.825, tying for fourth. Kosanovich earned 9.800 and Roberts ended with her day with a 9.750. This floor performance elevated the team second place in the quad meet with a final team score of 194.450.
 
In the all-around competition, Crossen and Rondeau placed fourth and fifth with scores of 38.200 and 37.600, respectively. 

Eastern Michigan looks to close out the season strong in Mount Pleasant, Mich. as they compete in the CMU Quad against Central Michigan (host), Ball State, and Western Michigan Saturday, March 13. The action inside McGurk Arena will start at 1 p.m. and will be streamed on Chippewa All-Access.
