Sixteen Eastern Gymnasts Recognized as WCGA Scholastic All-Americans

Eastern ranks 13th nationally in team GPA for 2025-26 season
San Marcos, TX (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics program had 16 student-athletes earn Scholastic All-America honors for the 2025-26 academic year, the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) announced today, Wednesday, Aug. 26.
As a team, the Eagles continued their strong academic tradition, posting a 3.7896 team grade-point average to rank 13th nationally and first among Mid-American Conference programs. Eastern also had 80 percent of its roster earn Scholastic All-America recognition, tied for 35th nationally.
"Our student-athletes are committed to excelling in the classroom and going above and beyond," Head Coach Katie Minasola said. "I am unbelievably proud of each and every one of them for taking pride in their academic success!"
Five Eagles recorded perfect 4.0 GPAs, including Brooke Maycroft (Coopersville, Mich./Coopersville), Georgie Slack (Uttoxeter, Staffordshire/Thomas Alleynes), Jacquelyn Patterson (Mason, Ohio/Mason), Jaelyn Stetz (Moorhead, Minn./Moorhead), and Macy Nihart (East Lansing, Mich./Home School).
Overall, 1,195 student-athletes across the country earned a 3.5 or higher GPA on a 4.0 scale, representing 77.15 percent of all reporting gymnasts, the highest percentage since records became available in 2008. Among those honorees, 293 student-athletes, or 18.92 percent, earned a perfect 4.0 GPA.
The 2025-26 academic year marked the sixth consecutive year with more than 1,000 WCGA Scholastic All-America recipients. Across all reporting gymnasts, the national average GPA was 3.6339, the second-highest mark since records became available in 2015. Additionally, 70 institutions posted a team GPA of 3.5 or better, while four programs had 100 percent of their student-athletes earn Scholastic All-America honors.
"The WCGA could not be more proud of the extraordinary standard of academic excellence set by our collegiate women's gymnastics programs each and every year. Achieving elite performance on the competition floor requires immense discipline, and balancing that with top-tier academic dedication in the classroom is a testament to the team culture, character, and work ethic of these student-athletes," said Sarah Brown, Chair of the WCGA Board of Directors. "Each and every program has demonstrated that our sport is built on a foundation of total excellence, and the relentless commitment of these young women to their education inspires our entire coaching community."
Utah State University led the nation with a 3.8916 team GPA, followed by Alaska-Anchorage at 3.8476 and Texas Woman's University at 3.8421. Eastern's 3.7896 GPA placed the Eagles 13th nationally and ahead of all other MAC programs.
