Eagles Earn Second at CMU Quad with Season-High 196.100

Rondeau ties for second all-time with a all-around score of 39.475

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team placed second at the CMU Quad with a season-high 196.100, Saturday, March 13, inside McGuirk Arena. Host Central Michigan (196.425) earned first place while Western Michigan placed third (194.500), and Ball State (194.425) came in fourth. Today's competition was the last regular season meet for the Eagles, as they closed out the season strong.
"Today was very exciting and high energy," said Head Coach Katie Minasola. "We had a job to do and we accomplished it! We had two great performances in all-around by Jada and Hadyn. This is a great meet for us to build upon for MAC's."
The Green and White started on bars, finishing with an event score of 48.950. Senior Jada Rondeau (Savage, Minn.-Central) led the lineup by tying her career-high of 9.875 to earn fourth. Sophomore Molly Parris (Hudson, Ohio-Hudson) followed closely with a 9.825 to tie for sixth. Chipping in scores of 9.775 and 9.750, respectively, was sophomore Hadyn Crossen (Carmel, Ind.-Carmel) and freshman Raisa Boris (Brooklyn Park, Minn.-). Rounding out the scoring five was junior Kara Roberts (Pinckney, Mich.-Pinckney), tying her season-high of 9.725. The Eagles sat in third place after the first rotation.
Moving on to beam, Eastern posted a big score of 49.275 to take over first place in the quad with an overall team score of 98.225. EMU's beam score ties the third-highest score in program history from Feb. 13, 2016, at Bowling Green, against the Falcons and Southeast Missouri State. Junior Shannon Gregory (Edison, N.J.-John P. Stevens) hit a career-high of 9.900 to tie for first, and became the fourth Eagle gymnast to receive a score of 9.900-or-better. Rondeau tied with the Edison, N.J. native, also earning a 9.900. Crossen tied at fifth place with her score of 9.875. Meanwhile, senior Brianna Price (Kings Mountain, N.C.-Homeschool) tied her season-high of 9.825, while sophomore Mickayla Stuckey (Union City, Ind.-Indiana Connections Academy) contributed a score of 9.775.
In the third rotation, EMU was able to stay on top, totaling 48.875 points. The Eagles held a narrow lead over Ball State in second, 147.100-147.050. Rondeau once again led the event for the Green and White, hitting 9.875, which tied for fourth. Crossen hit a personal-best of 9.850 in the event to tie for seventh. Junior Carly Kosanovich (Moon Twp., Pa.-Moon Area) tied her best floor score of 9.825, while Roberts added a score of 9.775 and Boris received a 9.550.
EMU saved the best for last on vault, earning a season-high 49.000 on the apparatus. Crossen posted a career-high 9.925 to claim first and tie for eighth all-time with former Eagles Natalie Hashimoto and Rachel Slocum. Rondeau also posted a personal-best 9.825 to tie for fourth, while Parris added a career-high of her own with a score of 9.800. Kosanovich added a score of 9.750, and senior Cali Harden (Saline, Mich.-Saline) rounded out the scorers with a 9.700. Eastern totaled a season-high 196.100 for the first time since March 5, 2017, at West Virginia.
Rondeau had a big day in the all-around competition, earning a career-best 39.475 to tie former Eagle Leah Hashimoto for second in program history. Crossen earned a personal-bets all-around score as well, hitting 39.425 which ties her for fifth. The only two all-arounders for Eastern Michigan finished second and third respectively.
The Green and White will head to Kalamazoo, Mich. for the Mid-American Conference Championships Saturday, March 21. The action will begin at 2 p.m. inside University Arena.
