Eastern (13-5; 3-2 MAC) enters the meet coming off a second-place finish (194.450) in the EMU Quad, March 7.  Central Michigan (6-3; 4-3 MAC) returns home after placing first at the Illinois State Quad, March 7 as well. CMU posted its highest score since 2018, 196.425.  On the same day, Ball State (13-1; 6-1 MAC) visited Kent State and came away with the win, 195.725-194.675. Furthermore, Western Michigan (6-3; 3-3 MAC) has not competed since Feb. 28, when they defeated the Cardinals in Muncie, Ind., 194.300-194.225.

FOLLOWING THE MEET: The meet can be streamed on Chippewa All-Access. Fans can also follow along on EMUEagles.com via live stats, or on Twitter, @EMUGym.

ONE GOAL, QUALIFY: If the 2021 season ended today, Eastern currently sits 32nd in the nation with a team national qualifying score (NQS) of 195.688. With the top-36 teams qualifying for NCAA Regionals, the Eagles last meet could punch their ticket to the show.
The Green and White have been as high as 28th in the nation this year, after putting up a season-high overall team score of 195.975 at Western Michigan, Feb. 21.

APPARATUS APPRECIATION IN THE NATION: Eastern Michigan currently ranks 28th on beam and 31st on bars in the NCAA. The beam squad holds a national qualifying score of 49.088, while the bars lineup has earned a 49.000 NQS this season.

ADDING ALL-AROUND: The Eagles started the 2021 season with no gymnasts competing all-around. Senior Jada Rondeau and sophomore Hadyn Crossen have now competed in every event over the last three meets. Rondeau has put up a season-high score of 39.200, while Crossen has set the bar high with a career-best score of 39.075. This is Crossen's first year competing.

LAST TIME AGAINST CENTRAL MICHIGAN: This will be the first time Eastern Michigan competes against Central Michigan during the 2021 season. In fact, it was the beginning of the 2020 season, Jan. 19, the last time these two squads met. In the meet, the Eagles fell to the Chippewas, 195.100-194.175.
Then-junior Cortney Bezold was the only EMU gymnast to earn a first- place finish, earning a 9.850 on bars and tying for the top spot. Former Eagle Emili Dobronics secured a third-place finish on beam with her score of 9.775, and followed it up with a 9.800 in floor for second. Following close behind Dobronics was then-sophomore Kara Roberts 9.775 to claim third. Roberts also finished third in all-around with a score of 38.875.

THIRD TIME'S THE CHARM: They say the third time is the charm. When it comes to matching up against Ball Sate, Eastern hopes that is true. The Green and White have now lost to BSU twice this season. The first came in the Eagle Invitational, Feb. 6, 195.975-195.800. The second loss came at the GymQuarters Invitational Feb. 12, where the Eagles placed second (193.975) and the Cardinals earned first (194.275).
In the most recent meet at GymQuarters, senior Cortney Bezold finished first on bars with a 9.875. On beam, senior Jada Rondeau and junior Caitlin Satler tied for first place with a 9.875, while sophomore Molly Parris earned a career-high at the time of 9.750. Furthermore, junior Carly Kosanovich claimed second with a 9.800 on floor.

COMPLETING THE WMU SEASON SERIES: The Eagles and Broncos have split the two meetings so far this season. EMU won the first contest, 195.800-195.575, in the Eagle Invitational, Feb. 6. WMU responded by tallying a big score at home, downing Eastern, 196.025-195.975, Feb. 21 in Kalamazoo, Mich. The 195.975 is a season-high team score for the Green and White.
In the competition at Western Michigan, the beam squad scored a program-record 39.350 on the apparatus. This included career-high efforts from senior Jada Rondeau (9.950) and junior Shannon Gregory (9.875). Freshman Raisa Boris also posted a personal-best of 9.850 on floor. The final matchup between the teams will break the season tie-breaker.

BEAMTOWN: Continuing to turn up the heat on beam and ranking first in the Mid-American Conference, the Eagles are making a case for Ypsilanti to become Beamtown. The squad has an NQS of 49.088 on the apparatus after setting a program record 49.350 at Western Michigan, Feb. 21.
Three Eagles rank in the top-10 in the league. Junior Caitlin Satler is second, with an NQS of 9.894 on the apparatus, while senior Jada Rondeau sits third (9.869), and sophomore Hadyn Crossen (9.844) is tied for eighth, respectively.

STACK AGAINST THE MAC: In the current team rankings, Eastern (195.688) sits third in the Mid-American Conference, behind Central Michigan (196.163), and Western Michigan (195.769). The Green and White lead the MAC on beam (49.088). On bars, EMU is third in the conference (49.000), with Kent State close behind (48.994). The Eagles sit fifth in the league on floor and vault, with NQS scores of 49.069 and 48.744, respectively.

REDO THE RECORD BOOK: The Eagles had a big day Feb. 21 at Western Michigan, even with the loss, 195.975-196.025, to the Broncos. The Green and White posted the highest beam score in program history, 49.350, and totaled a season-high team score of 195.975. Leading the beam squad was senior Jada Rondeau who earned a 9.950 to claim second all-time in EMU history on the apparatus. Junior Shannon Gregory also hit a personal-best 9.875, finishing third in the meet. Senior Brianna Price added a season-high 9.825 to boost the record-breaking score. The team's season-high score of 195.975 ties for ninth all-time in the program's history.
This year's squad has made seven additions to the record book this season; Cortney Bezold (9.900, bars), Rondeau (9.950, beam), Caitlin Satler (9.925, beam), Hadyn Crossen (9.900, beam), and Rondeau, Satler, and Kara Roberts (9.900, floor).

WHO CAN OUTDO RONDEAU?: Senior Jada Rondeau has come alive late in the season, and is working to cement her name in the EMU history books. Rondeau posted a 9.950 on beam at Western Michigan (Feb. 21), and overtook her teammate Caitlin Satler (9.925) for sole ownership of the number two spot all-time in the event. The senior also finds herself tied for 15th on floor, after earning a 9.900 in the Eagle Invitational, Feb. 6. The Savage, Minn. native has tallied the same national qualifying score in both beam and bars (9.863), which puts her third and tied for third in the conference, respectively.

HONORING THE SENIORS: Eastern Michigan honored three seniors this year at the EMU Quad. Cortney Bezold, Brianna Price, and Jada Rondeau were celebrated by the EMU home crowd before hitting the road to Central Michigan (March 13) to close out the 2021 regular season.
Bezold competed on bars all four years at Eastern and has scored a 9.900 three times in her career. That score ties her for ninth all-time in the event. In 2019, the Maineville, Ohio native was selected to the All-MAC First Team, honored as a part of the Google Cloud All-District Team by CoSIDA, named MAC Specialist of the Week twice, and qualified for regionals individually.
Price ends her Eagle career with personal-bests of 9.875 on beam and 9.800 on floor. The Kings Mountain, N.C. native is a two-time Academic All-MAC selection and earned the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) Academic All-American nod in 2020.
In all-around, Rondeau is tied for the 15th best score by an Eagle, 39.275. In the senior's career, she has tallied career-highs of 9.800 on vault, 9.875 on bars, 9.900 on floor, and 9.950 on beam. The Savage, Minn. native has ensured she will be remembered, as her high scores on floor and beam tie for 15th and sit 2nd, respectively. The senior was an All-MAC Second Team selection in 2020 and has racked up 46 scores of 9.825-or-better in her career, across all four events.

BEZOLD, THE BARS BALLAST: Senior Cortney Bezold, the only gymnast on the team to have competed in an NCAA regional competition, once again leads the bars lineup for Eastern. Bezold is averaging 9.869 on the apparatus this season and ranks third in the Mid-American Conference. The senior was tied for third in the conference when the 2020 season ended. Furthermore, the Maineville, Ohio native earned MAC Specialist of the Week honors, Jan. 26, for the fourth time in her career, and has claimed a podium finish on the event in seven of ten meets so far this season.

EASTERN MICHIGAN 49ERS?: The Green and White have now hit 49+ eight times this season, with the most recent coming, March 7 in the EMU Quad on floor. The squad posted 49.075 to earn second place in the meet.
