RIO VERDE, Ariz. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University sophomore Preaw Sripatrprasite (Bangkok, Thailand-Siam International) fired an even-par 70 and sits in a tie for second-place after the opening day of the Rio Verde Invitational, Feb. 23. After a two-over front nine, Sripatrprasite rebounded with four birdies on the back side to pull one stroke behind leader Claire Hernandez of Western Michigan (70).
As a team, the Eagles carded an opening day score of 305 while Arkansas State holds down the top spot with an 18-hole tally of 297 on the par 72, 6,075-yard Quail Run Golf Course.
Senior Penelope Guilleux (Saint Maur Des Fosse, France-Arsonval), senior Kritsuda Apiwatthanadol (Bangkok, Thailand-Somtawin Witead Suska Huaymongkhon School), and junior Julia Stevenson (Milford, Mich.-Milford) each posted a 78 for 46th, while Maria Connelly (Waterville, Ohio-Anthony Wayne) added an 84.
Taking part as an individuals, Katelin Lawson (LaSalle, Ontario-Ridge Community-University of Tampa) notched a 79 on her birthday, while Green Apichonlati (Bangkok, Thailand-The Regent's International School) and Abby Livingston (Novi, Mich.-Novi) added an 81 and 85, respectively.
The tournament will conclude with one more round Sunday, Feb. 24. Live stats will be available via Golfstat.com.
