RIO VERDE, Ariz. (EMUEagles.com) —
The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team heads west to the Grand Canyon State to participate in the 17th Annual Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational, Feb. 22-24.  This year's field will be comprised of 18 teams with four out of five individual scores counting toward the team total each day.

The 54-hole tournament, hosted by Western Michigan, runs from Friday through Sunday on the Quail Run Course at Rio Verde Country Club. Live scoring will be available at Golfstat.com.

The event features eight Mid-American Conference programs: Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Northern Illinois, Ohio, and WMU.

The field also includes Arkansas State, Boise State, Bradley, Illinois State, Little Rock, UMKC, Missouri State, Seton Hall, Wichita State, and Xavier.

The event was originally known as the East/West Rio Verde Invitational. Last season, the Eagles shot a three-round total of 923 (308-305-310) to finish in 11th-place. Maria Connelly (Waterville, Ohio-Anthony Wayne) finished tied for fifth at the event with a 223 (77-75-71) and Penelope Guilleux (Saint Maur Des Fosse, France-Arsonval) took seventh with a 224 (73-74-77), as the Eagles were one of just two teams in the tournament to boast a pair of top 10 finishers.

Sophomore Preaw Sripatrprasite (Bangkok, Thailand-Siam International) will lead the lineup for the Eagles, followed by junior Julia Stevenson (Milford, Mich.-Milford). In the No. 3 and 4 spots will be Connelly and Guilleux, while senior Kritsuda Apiwatthanadol (Bangkok, Thailand-Somtawin Witead Suska Huaymongkhon School) will round out the lineup set to start on Friday, Feb. 22.

Taking part as individuals will be Green Apichonlati (Bangkok, Thailand-The Regent's International School), Katelin Lawson (LaSalle, Ontario-Ridge Community-University of Tampa), and Abby Livingston (Novi, Mich.-Novi).
