EMU came away on top last year, earning a 5-1 win at home
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's soccer team is set to take on the Oakland University Golden Grizzlies in a preseason exhibition match Friday night, Aug. 12, in Rochester, Mich. The match is slated to begin at 7 p.m. at Oakland Soccer Field.
Friday night marks the second consecutive season in which the Green and White have tangled with OU in the preseason. Last season, EMU came away with a 5-1 win behind goals from four different players. The Eagles struck first as Kristin Nason (Brooklin, Ontario-Donald A. Wilson) buried a goal in the 12th minute before adding another in the 26th minute. Holding a two goal lead at halftime, EMU broke the game open in the second half. Peyton Davis (North Ridgeville, Ohio-Holy Name) capitalized on a cross from Michelle Rollins (Hartland, Mich.-Hartland), pushing EMU's lead to three. Madison Hirsch (Troy, Mich.-Troy) added a tally moments later before Rollins responded to an Oakland goal with one of her own in the 71st minute. Coming away with a 5-1 win, the victory marked Eastern's first win over Oakland since the 2006 season.
