The Eagles will compete in the five-team field Sunday, May 17, in Mercer County, N.J.

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University rowing squad will be one-of-five teams vying for the 2015 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Rowing Championship. In only its third season in the CAA, EMU will compete at the Mercer County Park in Mercer County, N.J. Sunday, May 17.

The championship begins at 10:10 a.m. with the third Varsity 8 followed by the Varsity Four finals at 10:20 a.m.  The Second Varsity Eight teams will race at 10:30 a.m., while the final event will take place at 10:40 a.m. with the Varsity Eight race. Finally, the awards ceremony is set to start at 11:20 a.m.

EMU, Delaware and Drexel are all in search of their first conference titles, while Northeastern has claimed the title four times and Buffalo and Boston have each been crowned champions once.

The Eagles competed in their first ever CAA Championships in the 2013 season, tying for fifth with Delaware. EMU placed fifth in the Varsity 4 and Second Varsity 8 races, while finishing sixth in the Varsity 8 race. Boston earned the title with 32 points, defeating back-to-back champion Northeastern. KC Anderson was the lone Eagle to grab all-conference honors as she was named to the All-CAA Team following the event.

In 2014, the Green and White struggled to keep pace with the rest of the field, finishing fifth in all three events and earning 12 points on the afternoon, while Northeastern claimed its fourth title. Steph Schlosser was named to the 2014 All-Academic team, while Krista Burdick nabbed All-CAA honors for her efforts in the 2014 season.

This year, EMU will go into the championships as the three seed after winning the Michaud Family Cup at the Lubbers Cup and taking home its third-ever Harvey Cup in the 2015 season. The Eagles also saw vast improvement on the water, becoming faster in each race this season as the Varsity Four capped off the regular season with a Petite Championship crown at the MACRA Championships. Finally, the Green and White was ranked in the region for the first time in program history, ranking sixth in Region 2 following its victories at the Lubbers Cup.
