Starting the game two of the three-game series against No.3-ranked Mississippi State, March 14, Eastern Michigan junior Justin Meis shined in his third start of the season. Despite the setback to the Bulldogs, Meis pitched a career-high 8.0 innings, faced a career-high 32 batters, recorded three 1-2-3 innings (1st, 3rd, and 8th), struck out four, and allowed only three hits, two of which came in the ninth inning. Forcing MSU to 15 groundouts and four flyouts in addition to the four strikeouts during his time on the mound, Meis no-hit the Bulldogs for 5.2 innings, and held them scoreless for eight full innings, the longest scoring drought by Mississippi State this season.
