MILWAUKEE, Wis. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University women's soccer travels to Milwaukee, Wisconsin Thursday, Sept. 10, for a 6 p.m. matchup against the University of Milwaukee, with the Eagles carrying a 2-2-1 record and momentum from a three-goal second-half comeback into their first road match since Aug. 30.

Eastern Michigan earned a historic 0-0 draw at No. 3 Michigan State, Aug. 27, holding the Spartans scoreless despite being outshot 22-0 and conceding 15 corner kicks — including a shot that rattled the woodwork at 89:57.

MATCHUP OVERVIEW: Eastern Michigan faces the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee for just the second time in program history. The Panthers are 2-4-1 on the 2026 season and have yet to open Horizon League play. Milwaukee is coming off a 2-0 shutout victory over Valparaiso, Sept. 6, in which Emily Petring and Ashlyn Skinner-Barrett each found the net, with assists from Sabdh Griffin, Brinlee McNabb and Ashlyn Derosier. Petring leads the Panthers with two goals on the year. Goalkeeper Lauren Nidey has been steady between the posts, recording three shutouts and making five saves on nine shots in the most recent win.
DEFENSIVE RESILIENCE: The Eagles' back line has been the backbone of the 2026 season, allowing just three goals in five matches for a 0.60 goals-against average that ranks No. 44 nationally. Goalkeeper Ella Holland has made 11 saves on 14 shots on goal this season, posting a .786 save percentage. Holland was at her best Aug. 27 against No. 3 Michigan State, recording seven saves in a historic 0-0 draw. Newcomer Reese Carpenter, who transferred from Creighton, has started four matches and logged 350 minutes, anchoring a back line that held Robert Morris to just two shots and one corner kick in a clean sheet Aug. 30.
MAC WEEKLY HONORS: Eastern swept the MAC's weekly defensive awards Sept. 1. Holland earned MAC Goalkeeper of the Week — the third career weekly honor of her career — after recording back-to-back clean sheets against No. 3 Michigan State and Robert Morris. Reese Carpenter earned MAC Defensive Player of the Week in her debut season with the Green and White, recognized for her role in shutting out two opponents in the span of four days.
NEWCOMER OFFENSIVE IMPACT: Newcomer Christie Fransen, who transferred from Bowling Green, leads Eastern with two goals and four points through five matches. Fransen converted a penalty kick in the 63rd minute to spark the comeback against Southern Indiana. Fellow newcomer Lauren Yaquinto added the go-ahead goal in the 81st minute, while returner Tayla Maddock capped the scoring in the 88th minute. Newcomer Madison Hurst, who transferred from Robert Morris, has also contributed a goal on the season, and newcomer Avery Hilvert recorded an assist on the game-winning tally against USI.
SERIES HISTORY: Milwaukee leads the series against Eastern Michigan, 1-0-0. The programs have met only once, with the Panthers winning 2-0 at Varsity Field in Ypsilanti, Oct. 17, 1997. Thursday's match in Milwaukee will be just the second meeting between the two programs and the first ever played on Milwaukee's home ground.
