Eastern recorded third-straight road shutout for first time since 2013
MILWAUKEE, Wis. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's soccer team battled to a 0-0 draw at the University of Milwaukee Thursday, Sept. 10, at Engelmann Stadium, with goalkeeper Ella Holland (Dunwoody, Ga./Dunwoody/Samford) turning aside six shots to preserve the shutout and extend the Eagles' unbeaten streak to four matches.
Eastern enters MAC play with momentum, matching a program milestone for draws in a season before the midpoint and carrying a 2-1-3 overall record into conference competition. Holland's performance anchored a defense that kept the Panthers off the board for the full 90 minutes, continuing one of the most durable runs in EMU program history.
How It Happened
Eastern Michigan and Milwaukee played a tightly contested, scoreless first half at Engelmann Stadium. Madison Hurst (Wexford, Pa./Allison Park, Pa./Robert Morris) came closest to breaking the deadlock, rattling the post, as neither side could find the breakthrough. Holland and the EMU backline held firm against the Panthers' attack throughout the opening 45 minutes.
Holland delivered the match's most pivotal moment when she stopped a Milwaukee penalty kick, keeping the scoreline level and preserving Eastern's clean sheet. The save proved decisive in a second half that saw EMU come agonizingly close to a winner on two separate occasions — Olivia Sipsock (Medina, Ohio/Medina) had a goal overturned via VAR after a handball determination, and an apparent EMU goal was whistled dead for offside.
Meredith Werner (Broadview Heights, Ohio/North Royalton) registered a shot on goal for Eastern, and Tayla Maddock (Camlachie, Ontario/St. Patrick's Catholic High School) added a shot in her 19 minutes of action, but EMU could not convert. Holland made six saves across the 90 minutes to secure the clean sheet.
Reese Carpenter (Terrace Park, Ohio/Mount Notre Dame HS/Creighton) and Rosalie Takacsy (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park) each played the full 90 minutes in the field, with Takacsy — who leads the 2026 Eagles with two assists — continuing to drive Eastern's offensive rhythm. Sipsock logged 61 minutes up front, while Cameryn Susey (Westerville, Ohio/Olentangy Berlin) contributed 70 minutes in the midfield.
