Lacrosse Scores Season-High 17 in MAC Win at Detroit Mercy

Ten players scored in the game, including two recording their first career goals
DETROIT, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- Ten players scored at least one goal including five with multiple goals while the defense tied a program record for fewest goals allowed as the Eastern Michigan University lacrosse team posted a 17-4 Mid-American Conference road victory at the University of Detroit Mercy, March 19, at Titan Field in Detroit, Mich. The Eagles (7-4, 2-0 MAC) tied several program records, including their largest margin of victory, on the way to their fourth consecutive win over the Titans (0-7, 0-2 MAC) and their best start in program history.
How It Happened
Eastern jumped out to a 5-0 lead after one quarter as the offense tallied three goals on the woman-up advantage while the defense caused four turnovers and Maddy Porter (Montrose, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson) stopped both shots she faced. The scoring opened with Tracy Grollman (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis Area Christian School) scoring off a pass from Mackenzie Blackwell (North Beach, Md./Northern) before Katheryn Wilson (Dacula, Ga./Mill Creek) scored on a free-position shot to make it 2-0. The Eagles extended their lead to 3-0 as Blackwell scored her first on a pass from Grollman before Blackwell added her second as Emerson Henry (Ashburn, Ontario/Donald A. Wilson) found her for the assist. Kelsea Dague (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) scored with under one minute to play to make it 5-0.
The Eagles continued to build their lead as Henry made it six consecutive games with at least two goals scored as she netted back-to-back goals for the visitors. Henry scored at 9:57 with a woman-up free-position goal before dodging through traffic to score her second at 8:08 remaining. Three minutes later, Blackwell scored off a pass from Grollman to secure her eighth hat trick of the season and the 38th of her career before Stella Burke (Peterborough, Ontario/St. Peter's Catholic Secondary) got on the scoresheet at 4:22 to play when she ripped a shot on a free-position attempt to send the game to halftime with the Eagles ahead, 9-0.
Eastern went back to work in the third quarter with Henry scoring at 13:56 to secure her fifth career hat trick before Kendall Nagle (Sudlersville, Md./Queen Anne's County) added a free-position goal at 12:08 to make it 11-0. Grollman notched her second goal of the day after she picked up a ground ball on a saved shot before Emma Reichert (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) added her first of the day at 6:08 for a 13-0 lead. Wilson scored her second of the day with 4:08 to play in the third as she took a pass from Henry and scored a spectacular no-look, behind the back goal for a 14-0 lead. The Titans scored twice before the end of the quarter to make it 14-2 at the break.
The fourth quarter saw a pair of firsts for the Eagles with the first coming at 14:10 with Reagan Riemer (Perry Hall, Md./Notre Dame Preparatory Academy) scoring her first career goal to push the EMU advantage to 15-2. Following a Titan goal, Alex Paterson (Pitt Meadows, B.C./Pitt Meadows Secondary) tallied her first career goal as well with hers coming at the 8:08 mark. After UDM scored its final goal of the contest, Reichert followed with her second of the day at 4:01 to mark the fourth time she has scored two goals in a game. On the final goal, Rimer was credited with her second career assist to give her a career high two points in the contest.

» Emerson Henry recorded a career-high-tying five points on three goals and two assists while adding a game-high six draw controls. Henry has now scored at least two goals in six consecutive games while recording her second hat trick of the season and the fifth of her career. She also added two assists for the second time in 2026 after dishing two against Lindenwood (Feb. 11).
» Mackenzie Blackwell added to her hat trick totals as she finished the game with three goals and one assist for four points. The hat trick is her eighth of the season and the 38th of her career. With 32 goals this season, she now holds the top four single-season scoring marks (59 in 2025, 49 in 2024, and 39 in 2023).
» Tracy Grollman continued to dish assists as she finished the game with four points on two goals and two assists. The program's career (58) and single-season (23) leader in assists, Grollman has now finished a game with at least two scores and two helpers three times this year and done so in back-to-back games after finishing with two goals and four assists against Kent State (March 14). Her first instance came at Oregon (Feb. 22) with two of each.
» Katheryn Wilson got back in the scoring column as she tallied three points on two goals and one assist. It marked the first time she found the back of the net since scoring at Austin Peay (March 1) and her first multiple-goal game since netting two against Lindenwood (Feb. 11). She added a career-high two caused turnovers, tying her previous best set last year at No. 11 Notre Dame (Feb. 15, 2025).
» Emma Reichert finished the game with two goals and two points. The freshman has made it a habit of only scoring multiple goals in a game as she has scored eight in 2026 with two goals scored in four different games.
» Kelsea Dague scored once in the game to record what would stand as the game-winning strike for the Eagles. It marked her third game-winner of the season after she recorded the winning goal at home against Xavier (Feb. 14) and on the road at Oregon (Feb. 22). She has scored four career game-winning goals, which ranks second in program history behind Mackenzie Blackwell, who has recorded six.
» Reagan Riemer scored her first career goal and recorded her second career assist in the game, marking her first career multiple point contest. The redshirt freshman also tallied a pair of ground balls, which tied her career high set against Lindenwood (Feb. 11) where she also collected her first career point on an assist.
» Alex Paterson also earned her first point as she scored her first collegiate goal. Paterson, who redshirted her freshman season last year, tallied her first two career shots while collecting her first career caused turnover and second career draw control win.
» Maddy Porter played the first 41:06 of the game in goal where she recorded four saves and held the Titans scoreless.

» Eastern scored 14 consecutive goals to open the game to break the program record of all games played and MAC contests. The previous record stood at nine and was recorded twice in 2024, including the home game with Butler (March 15, 2024) and the road contest at Howard (Feb. 25, 2024). The record for a MAC game was seven set against Youngstown State at home, March 23, 2025.
» The Eagles scored six of their goals on the woman-up advantage, tying for the second-highest total in a game with the six scored against Butler (Feb. 8) earlier this year. It also sits second in MAC games behind the seven scored at Youngstown State, April 21, 2024.
» Eastern shut out Detroit Mercy in the first half, marking the first time in program history the Eagles have prevented an opponent from scoring in a single half.
