EMU led by 10 points with 12:41 left

KENT, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – Addison Patterson netted 32 points to lead the Eastern Michigan University men's basketball team in a tight 95-91 loss at Kent State University Wednesday, Feb. 11, inside the Memorial Athletic Convocation Center in Mid-American Conference action.

Patterson (Mississauga, Ontario/Bella Vista College Prep/Northwestern State) was just one point short of his career-high 33 points in a game in which Eastern led by as many as 10 points with 12:41 left, out-shooting Kent State, 59.4 to 49.1.

Mohammad Habhab (Dearborn, Mich./Dearborn/Central Michigan) also produced a standout performance of 22 points, nine rebounds, and three assists, as EMU dropped its fourth-straight game by five points or less for the first time since the 1978-79 season.

Godslove Nwabude (Anambra State, Nigeria/Mt. Zion Prep (Md.)) added 13 points, which included 11 in the game's first 11:16. Braelon Green (Southfield, Mich./Southfield/Bowling Green) chipped in 15 points in his first start since Jan. 24, against Kent State.

How It Happened
A high-scoring first half saw Kent State lead, 29-22, midway through the period before a 12-0 EMU run put the Eagles ahead, 38-31.

KSU cut its deficit to five, but a deep Patterson three with 15 ticks left in the half gave Eastern a 47-40 halftime advantage.

Habhab's jumper at the 16:28 mark provided Eastern its first 10-point lead of the contest at 55-45 before EMU also held 10-point advantages with 13:21 and 12:41 to go, respectively.

A 9-0 spurt by the hosts tied the game at 70-70 with 6:25 remaining as the teams traded buckets down the stretch with EMU up, 83-82 with 2:10 left.

Kent State scored the game's next six points to create a five-point gap as the Golden Flashes converted seven free throws in the final 41 seconds.
