Men’s Basketball Tops McMaster University, 87-49, in Exhibition Play

Wright netted 18 points to lead the way
WINDSOR, Ontario (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's basketball team beat McMaster University, 87-49, in foreign tour exhibition play Sunday, Aug. 16, inside the Toldo Lancer Center.
Eastern, trailed for 1:11 in the opening quarter, but took control of the contest with an 11-0 first-quarter spurt.
All 12 Eagles that played scored as Jordan Wright (Clinton Township, Mich./Chippewa Valley/Oakland CC) led the charge with 18 points, while Kaden Johnson (Hartford, Mich./Hartford/Huntington College) netted 12 points and Kilian Brockhoff (Cuxhaven, Germany/William&Mary) rounded out EMU's double-digit scorers with 10 points.
Emanuel Richards (Irmo, S.C./Christ School/Longwood) and Mohammad Habhab (Dearborn, Mich./Fordson/Central Michigan) were next in line with nine points. Jaiden Martin (Milwaukee, Wis./Dominican/Parkland CC) had seven points, while Sencire Harris (Canton, Ohio/St. Vincent-St.Mary's/Cincinnati) and Max Booher (Greenwood, Ind./Greenwood/Quincy) each had six points.
Jabri Fitzpatrick (North Brunswick, N.J./North Brunswick Township/New Haven) and Omar Suleiman (Canton, Mich./Canton/Lake Superior State) had three points apiece and Braelon Green (Southfield, Mich./Southern California Academy/Bowling Green) and DaCory Porter (Jackson, Miss./Terry/Delta State) concluded the Eastern scorers with two points apiece.
The teams played four 10-minute quarters.
How It Happened
McMaster led 5-4 before an 11-0 Eastern run put EMU in control. The Eagles took a 21-11 advantage into the second quarter.
The Marauders scored eight of the second quarter's first 12 points, but Eastern netted the next 13 points as EMU led 44-24 at the halftime intermission.
McMaster put home the first bucket of the second half before Eastern went on a 20-3 run over a 6:35 span. The Eagles held a 64-36 advantage after 30 minutes.
Helped by a 12-6 run, Eastern expanded its lead in the fourth quarter. Suleiman netted the final basket of the game with a three-pointer from the corner.

» Eastern was 29-of-63 (46.0%) from the field and 6-of-25 (24.0%) from the three-point line, while McMaster University was 17-of-49 (34.7%) from the floor and 7-of-2 (29.2%) from three-point range.
