Men’s Basketball Wins, 90-69, in Exhibition Play at University of Windsor

Richards scores 18 points, Martin adds 15 points
WINDSOR, Ontario (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University men's basketball team topped the University of Windsor, 90-69, in foreign tour exhibition play Saturday, Aug. 15, inside the Toldo Lancer Center.
Eastern, which took the lead 1:27 into the game, never trailed.
Emanuel Richards (Irmo, S.C./Christ School/Longwood) led the way with 18 points while Jaiden Martin (Milwaukee, Wis./Dominican/Parkland CC) had 15 points, Jabri Fitzpatrick (North Brunswick, N.J./North Brunswick Township/New Haven) netted 13 points, and Mohammad Habhab (Dearborn, Mich./Fordson/Central Michigan) tallied 10 points to round out the Eagles' double-digit scorers.
"I thought there were a lot of positives with our depth," first-year Head Coach Billy Donlon said. "Our pressure really wore them down. Ninety points with 34 in the paint - we dominated the paint which is what you've got to do."
Kaden Johnson (Hartford, Mich./Hartford/Huntington College) added nine points, Sencire Harris (Canton, Ohio/St. Vincent-St.Mary's/Cincinnati) and Omar Suleiman (Canton, Mich./Canton/Lake Superior State) each scored seven points, while Kilian Brockhoff (Cuxhaven, Germany/William&Mary) chipped in five points, Braelon Green (Southfield, Mich./Southern California Academy/Bowling Green) had four points, and DaCory Porter (Jackson, Miss./Terry/Delta State) rounded out the scoring with two points.
"I thought Kaden Johnson and Jaiden Martin were outstanding as well as Sencire Harris and Braelon Green," Donlon continued. "Windsor made some shots - they're well-coached, give them credit. We're really appreciative of Windsor letting us come do this. We had great support - families, friends. That's what makes Eastern Michigan basketball so special."
The teams played four 10-minute quarters.
How It Happened
Fitzpatrick opened the scoring with Eastern's first six points as EMU closed the first quarter with a 23-16 advantage.
The Green and White broke the game open with an 11-0 run to start the second quarter, building a 39-20 lead before heading into halftime with a 47-33 lead.
Eastern used an 11-5 run to lead, 58-38. Windsor slightly closed the game to conclude the period as EMU held a 69-53 advantage after three quarters.
The hosts cut EMU's lead to 72-61 with a triple at the 6:24 mark of the fourth quarter, but Eastern put the game out of reach with an 18-8 spurt to finish the game, which included a 3:55 span of allowing just three points.

» Eastern was 34-of-65 (52.3%) from the field and 9-of-20 (45.0%) from the three-point line, while the University of Windsor was 23-of-60 (38.3%) from the floor and 12-of-35 (34.3%) from three-point range.
