De Bock (first team) and Vega (second) earned selections from the conference
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Mid-American Conference announced its annual awards for the 2024-25 women's golf season, April 25, with Eastern Michigan University landing two players on the all-conference lists as Savannah de Bock was selected All-MAC First Team and Mariana Vega selected All-MAC Second Team. The selections are the first for the program since 2022 and marked the first time multiple Eagles were honored since the 2015 campaign.
De Bock (Ecaussinnes-d'enghien, Belgium/Institut de l'Enfant-Jésus-Lycée/Georgia) has put together one of the best seasons in EMU history as the sophomore rewrote the record books throughout the year with six of the top eight 54-hole scores recorded by an Eagle, including a school-record 204 (70-65-69) to win the Golfweek Red Sky Classic (Sept. 23-25). A top 10 placer in six events and a top 20 finisher in 11-of-13 tournaments played, de Bock carries an average of 72.9, which stands as the school record, bettering the 74.7 average posted by Kelsey Murphy in the 2015-16 season. In individual round history, she has carded seven of the program's 23 rounds of 69 or lower, including a school-record 65 at the Golfweek event, breaking the record of 66 set by Murphy in 2015.
Following her tie for 11th place at the MAC Championships, de Bock added to her historical season as the member of the 2024 ANNIKA Award Watch List was selected to compete in the NCAA Regionals, marking the first time in program history EMU will be represented in the national tournament. Currently ranked No. 129 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings, de Bock is the No. 3 seed among individuals in the NCAA Columbus Regional.
In her first collegiate season, Vega (Barranquilla, Columbia/Colegio Karl C. Parrish) has played well for the Eagles as she posted three top 20 finishes, including a season-best eighth place at the River Landing Classic in Wilmington, N.C., March 3-4. She fired 54-hole tournament scores of 219 or less on three occasions with each ranking among the program's all-time 25 scores, including her 217 strokes to tie for 21st place at the Gators Invitational (March 7-9), a score that tied for the 14th-best in EMU history. Vega finished her season with a stroke average of 75.5, which tied for the sixth-best in program history with Stephany Fleet (2008-09), a three-time All-MAC honoree.
Historically, the selections for de Bock and Vega make them the 17th and 18th different players in program history, respectively, to earn All-MAC accolades and the first since Anna Watson, who currently serves as a graduate assistant with the program, was named All-MAC Second Team in 2022. The selection for de Bock marked the 31st honor attained by an EMU golfer and made her the 10th different Eagle to earn first-team honors while Vega garnered the 32nd all-time honor while becoming the 13th player to earn second-team honors. Additionally, the last time two or more Eagles earned All-MAC accolades in the same season came in 2015 when Kelsey Murphy was named All-MAC First Team and Karyn Lee Ping earned All-MAC Second Team.

While the season has come to an end for team competitions, de Bock will play on as she was selected for the 2025 NCAA Columbus Regional, May 5-7, at the Ohio State University Golf Club in Columbus, Ohio. The tournament, one of six regional competitions nationally, will be used to select the teams and individuals that will compete at the NCAA Championships later in May.
