Sophomore placed fourth at the River Landing Classic earlier this week
CLEVELAND, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – The Mid-American Conference (MAC) has named Eastern Michigan University sophomore Riley Kim the MAC Women's Golfer of the Week, the conference announced today, March 7. Kim was the top finisher for an EMU team that tied for second place at the River Landing Classic in Wallace, N.C., March 3-4.
Kim (Aldie, Va./Lightridge) led the way for the Eagles as she finished fourth at 2-over 218 (73-72-73) and tied for the 17th-best score in program history while shooting under 220 for the first time in her career. Bettering her previous best by four strokes (222, 2024 Rainbow Wahine Invitational), Kim earned her first career top five finish and her first top 10 showing, improving on her career-best T-11th at the Shirley Spork Invitational (Oct. 2-3, 2023) in Ypsilanti. Overall, she led the team to an 881, the third-lowest score in program history, while the T-2nd marked the best placement for EMU since it won its own Shirley Spork Invitational, Oct. 4-5, 2021.
The weekly award is the first for Riley in her career and the third of the season for the Eagles. During the fall slate, Savannah de Bock (Ecaussinnes-d'enghien, Belgium/Institut de l'Enfant-Jésus-Lycée/Georgia) earned the honor twice, including Sept. 27 and Oct. 31.
The Eagles are currently competing in the Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla., with the first two rounds of the event being played March 7 and the final round March 8.
