YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com)
– The Eastern Michigan University track & field programs welcomed back prominent alumnus and two-time United States Olympian Donald Scott as the teams hosted the Second Annual Bob Parks Memorial at Bowen Field House Saturday, Jan. 25.

Scott, a nine-time United States Champion, World Indoor Bronze Medalist, and three-time NCAA All-American was the winner of the triple jump (16.77m – 55-00.20) and was one of four former Eagle standouts that returned to their Alma mater to compete. Joining him was Newlyn Stephenson, the winner of the men's weight throw (20.77m – 68-01.70) and a former All-American himself; Almighty Williamson, a three-time Mid-American Conference (MAC) Champion, who won the 60-meter hurdles in 7.85; and Natalie Cizmas, an All-American and eight-time MAC Champion who won the 800m (2:08.65) and finished third in the 3,000m (10:17.21).

The Eastern women's team led the day for the Eagles, winning six events while placing in the top three 14 times, landing one mark inside the program top 10, and collecting 13 collegiate personal records (PR). The men had similar success, claiming five events, tabbing 14 top three finishes, and earning 17 PRs.

How it Happened – Women
The Eagles saw significant success in the jumping events as they won both the long jump and high jump. Natalie Buratczuk (Saint Charles, Ill./Saint Charles North) leaped to first in the high jump with a mark of 1.65m (5-05) while newcomer Alimot Alowonle (Lagos, Nigeria/Tindip College/New Orleans) earned her first event win as an Eagle with a 5.90m (19-04.00) bound in the long jump. Mariia Yelanska (Dnipro, Ukraine) was Eastern's top finisher in the triple jump, finishing second with a mark of 12.18m (39-11.50).

Freshman Faith Moore (Farmington Hills, Mich./Farmington) had a career day, setting a PR and landing herself inside the program top 10 with a 16.89m (55-04.90) weight throw, a toss that stands as the sixth-farthest in program history.

Josephine Oloye (Iwaro-Oka, Nigeria/Geomi Secondary School/Tayelolu Memorial) had another standout meet as she earned two event wins. She first won the 200m in 24.43 before anchoring Eastern's first place 4x400m relay team that finished in 3:46.55. She joined the team of Saraiah Walkes (Manatee County, Fla./The-Out-of-Door-Academy), Ajah Arscott (Plantation, Fla./Taravella), Mia Biehl (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) in running a time that stands as a season-fastest and the best time in the MAC this year.

Marta Moreno (Wassenaar, Netherlands/American School of The Hague) had a PR-shattering performance in the mile. She finished second in 4:51.53, besting her previous PR (5:05.39) by nearly 15-seconds. Cara Weber (Union, Ky./Larry A. Ryle) joined her with a massive PR in the 3,000m. She finished in 10:18.34, roughly 12-seconds faster than her previous collegiate best (10:30.43).

 How it Happened – Men
The Eastern men shined in the long sprint events. They first swept the 400m, led by Bamidele Ajayi (Eikiti State, Nigeria/Metropolitan International College/Lenoir-Rhyne), who placed first in 49.18. He was followed by Gabe Singh (Sylvania, Ohio/Sylvania Northview/Oakland) in second in 49.45, and Olawole Olanrewaju (Akoko North-West, Nigeria/Wallas Universal Secondary School/Lenoir-Rhyne) in third in 49.76.

Continuing with the mid-distance events, freshman Jimmy Geller won his first collegiate race with a time of 1:54.53 in the 800m before Ronan Codyre (Auckland, New Zealand/Macleans College) earned gold in the mile in a personal-best 4:12.00. Ty Dailey (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) placed third in the mile with a 10-second PR, crossing the finish line in 4:12.50.

In the field, Formula Thompson (St. Catherine, Jamaica/Jamaica College/Nebraska) won the long jump, sailing 7.52m (24-08.00) while Jacob Niedzwiecki (Toledo, Ohio/Whitmer) won the pole vault with a vault of 4.70m (15-05.00). Furthermore, Thompson's jump stands as the best in the conference this year and ranks as the 30th-farthest in the nation.

Freshman Lucky Fiaku (Nimo, Nigeria/Busy International Secondary) improved upon his conference-best mark in the high jump, setting a collegiate PR at 2.10m for a first-place finish.
