Men's Basketball Adds Mario Brunetto to Incoming Freshmen Class

Eagles ink 6'11 wing from La Spezia, Italy
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University men's basketball has signed incoming freshman Mario Brunetto ahead of the 2024-25 season, Head Coach Stan Heath announced Tuesday, July 9.
Brunetto (La Spezia, Italy/Classical Gymnasium) is a 6-foot-11 wing that averaged 18.5 ppg in his final season at Classical Gymnasium.
"Mario is a 6'11 highly skilled unicorn," Heath said. "His versatility to shoot, pass, and play different positions on the floor is an added bonus for our basketball team. We look forward to a bright future with Mario and our fans should be excited to see this young, talented player."
Brunetto had impressive highs in high school including 38 points in one game, eight made three-pointers in one game, and 14 rebounds in one game. He was ranked as sixth-best U19 2005 player in Italy while playing for Kuntic Academy under Head Coach Davorin Kuntic.
While in Italy, Brunetto got a taste of NCAA Division I basketball, averaging 13.5 ppg against Marquette University and the University of Maryland on their foreign tours.
Brunetto has been added to the list of newcomers for the Eagles, which includes Dillon Tingler (Huntington, W. Va./Huntington Expression Prep), Christian Henry (Chicago, Ill./The Skill Factory (Atlanta, Ga.)/Panola College), Jalen Terry (Flint, Mich./Beecher/Oregon/DePaul), Da'Sean Nelson (Toledo, Ohio/Robert S. Rogers/Kilgore College/DePaul), Godslove Nwabude (Lanham, Md./Mt. Zion Prep), Trey Pettigrew (Chicago, Ill./Kenwood Academy/Nevada/Bradley/Salt Lake C.C.), Julian Lewis (Ypsilanti, Mich./Ann Arbor Huron/William & Mary/Miami), and John Shanu II (Houston, Texas/Sam Houston/Old Dominion/Florida State College at Jacksonville/UTRGV).
Brunetto, Tingler, and Nwabude round out EMU's 2024 freshmen class.
