LINCOLN, Neb. (EMUEagles.com) -
The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team earned a team score of 193.600 in the Annual Ameritas Masters Classic hosted by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln inside Devaney Center, Saturday, March 9. 
 
Taking the overall win was No. 4 the University of Florida with a team score of 197.700. Behind the Gators were the Huskers with a second-place score of 197.150, while the Lions of Lindenwood University secured the third spot with 196.325. 
 
How It Happened
The Eagles began the quad meet on beam with a 48.025 team score. Leading the event for EMU was junior Cassie Bergin (Islip Terrace, N.Y./East Islip) who scored a 9.775. 
 
EMU headed to the floor next for its second rotation scoring a 48.850. Leading the charge for the Eagles was freshman Abby Brushwood (State College, Pa./State College Area) with a 9.825. 
 
For the third rotation, Eastern Michigan competed on the vault, earning a 48.400. Boris led the event for the Eagles posting a 9.750. Additionally, freshman Katin Childress (Prosper, Texas/Prosper) appeared in the vault lineup for the first time in her career earning a 9.575. 
 
The Eagles finished off the away quad meet on bars scoring a 48.325. Three Eagles posted 9.800 scores or above in the event as Trinity Macy (Rowlett, Texas/Texas Connections Academy/Pittsburgh) led the way for EMU with a 9.825. Following behind with a score of 9.800 was Jordan Jankowski (Athens, Ala./Alabama Connections Academy) and Ella Chemotti (Canton, Mich./Canton)
 
Raisa Boris (Brooklyn Park, Minn./Park Center) was the sole all-arounder for the Green and White with an overall score of 38.375. 
 
Up Next: 
EMU is scheduled to travel to Muncie, Ind., twice in a one week span, first to face the Cardinals of Ball State University in its final regular season meet of the 2024 campaign, March 16, and then again for the Mid-American Conference championship, March 23.
