Gymnastics Set To Travel to Ball State for Regular-Season Finale

MUNCIE, Ind.(EMUEagles.com) - The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team will embark in its first of two final trips to Muncie as the Eagles are set to compete against Ball State University Sunday, March 17, in its final regular season meet before heading to the Mid-American Conference Championship, also set to be hosted by the Cardinals the following week.
FOLLOWING THE MEET: The meet, which will be held inside the Worthen Arena, is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m., and can be watched on ESPN+. Fans can also follow the meet through live results. Links can be found on the EMU gymnastics schedule page located on EMUEagles.com.
IN THE RECORD BOOK: EMU has earned a team top-10 record book score seven times this season. Most recently, the team's 196.450 team score at Kent State University, March 3, ranks third best in EMU program history, while the team's 49.250 bars score ties for second best all-time, and the 49.250 beam score ranks fifth all-time. RAISA IN THE RANKINGS: Senior Raisa Boris holds the highest ranking among all Eagle ranking 33rd in the NCAA with a National Qualifying Score (NQS) of 39.360 and an average all-around score of 39.170.
KEY EAGLE: Awarded after every contest, the EMU gymnastics coaches choose one gymnast to anoint as that meet's Key Eagle. Senior Anna Grace McCullough earned the honor after the meet at the Nebraska quad meet, March 9.
EMU IN QUAD MEETS: The Eagles competed in just their second quad meet of the 2024 campaign as the team scored an overall 193.600 at the Ameritas Masters Classic March 9, hosted by Nebraska. The last time the team competed against three other opponents was in the BGSU Quad, Feb. 11, when Eastern finished with a first-place score of 196.100, claiming EMU's first conference win of the season and the fourth win overall. After the victory at BGSU, Eastern Michigan was victorious in a quad meet for the first time since the 2016 campaign when EMU took on Maryland, Towson, and Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania, Jan. 10 and won with a score of 194.875. The Green and White are now 60-69-1 in meets including four or more members dating back to 2003.
AGAINST THE BIG TEN: Saturday's quad meet at Nebraska marked the 30th time EMU has faced a Big Ten member in its respective program history, going 7-24-1 in said contests. The Eagles hold four wins over Rutgers University, two against the University of Maryland, and one at Michigan State University.
IN THE RANKINGS: The team ranks 41st in the NCAA rankings as of March 16, 2024 (Road To Nationals). The highest EMU has been ranked in program history (started tracking in 1998) was the 2016 team that ranked 17th in the nation.

SCOUTING BALL STATE: Ball State enters Sunday's dual versus Eastern Michigan ranked 35th nationally with an NQS of 196.410 according to the latest Road to Nationals Rankings. The Cardinals were the first program in the country to break the 198 mark this season, while No. 1 Oklahoma, No. 2 LSU, No. 3 Cal, No. 4 Florida, No. 5 Utah, No. 6 Kentucky, No. 7 Alabama, No. 8 Michigan State and No. 11 UCLA are the only programs to score higher than Ball State since.
ON THE HORIZON: EMU will compete for the conference title as it travels back to Muncie, Ind. to perform in the Mid-American Conference Championship set to be hosted by Ball State Saturday, March 23, inside Worthen Arena.
