JOHNS CREEK, Ga. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University women's golf squad plays in the Atlanta area Monday and Tuesday at the Georgia State Invitational on the Rivermont Golf Club in Johns Creek, Ga. Competition in the two-day, three-round tournament will begin on Monday, March 25, with 36 holes of play, followed by the final round of play on Tuesday, March 26.
The Rivermont Golf Club course plays to a par-72 and a length of 6,095 yards.
The Eagles are joined in the field of 16 teams by Appalachian State, Bradley, Bryant, Dayton, Eastern Kentucky, Georgia State, Lehigh, Little Rock, Memphis, Murray State, Queens, Seton Hall, Troy, Truett McConnell, and Utah Tech.
This will be the fourth consecutive year the event has taken place at Rivermont after the tournament spent 20 years at Eagle's Landing Country Club. The course hosted the 2021 Georgia Women's Senior Amateur.
Last year, Anna Watson (Ashland, Ohio-Ashland) notched a 227 (75-77-75) for 35th at the event, March 27-28, 2023. Overall, she tallied five birdies and 33 pars over the course of the three rounds for the Eagles. As a team, Eastern Michigan finished 13th at the competition, posting a score of 930 (321-299-310). Lipscomb posted a four stroke victory over Charlotte, recording an 867 (296-284-287).
In 2022, Watson tallied a 54-hole tally of 233 (74-78-81) for 30th. Overall, EMU finished 14th, posting a score of 948 (312-321-315). Meanwhile, Olivia Loberg took home a tie for 18th-place in 2021, as EMU finished 12th with a mark of 921 (308-306-307).
