Cross Country Travels to Muncie For MAC Championships

The men are seeking their 26th MAC title and the women are in search of their sixth
MUNCIE, Ind. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University cross country programs are set to race at the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Championships, hosted by Ball State University Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Ball State Cross Country Course.
The women will compete in the 6k while the men will race the 8k. The women's race is scheduled to go off at 11 a.m. and the men's race will start at noon.

LAST TIME AT THE MAC CHAMPIONSHIPS
At the 2023 MAC Championships, hosted by Bowling Green State University, the Eagles came in fifth place in the men's race and second place in the women's race, with 139 and 76 points, respectively. Former Eagle Esme Davies finished as the runner-up in the women's race (20:31.52) and the Eagles saw four harriers named All-MAC First Team. Along with Davies, Paige Marchant (London, Ontario/Catholic Central) (20:46.28) and Marta Moreno (Wassenaar, Netherlands/American School of the Hague) (20:59.50) earned the honor for the women's team, while Marcus Kemp (24:29.30) was named first team for the men's squad.
ALL TIME AT THE MAC CHAMPIONSHIPS
Eastern Michigan will be competing at the MAC Championships for the 53rd consecutive year on the men's side and the 45th consecutive year for the women's team. The men have won 25 championships all-time, most recently in 2021. The women have won five titles, all in consecutive years, 2015-19.
RANKED IN THE USTFCCCA REGIONAL RANKINGS
Both of Eastern Michigan's teams are ranked in the Great Lakes Region, per the United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). As of Oct. 21, the women are ranked No. 10 and the men stand at No. 13.
LAST TIME OUT
Eastern Michigan last competed Friday, Oct. 25, at the EMU Fall Classic, at Hudson Mills Metropark, in nearby Dexter, Mich. Nicholas Kline (Grand Rapids, Mich./Kenowa Hills) led the two Eastern Michigan athletes in the men's race with a personal-best 17:00.1 and Frankie Moore (Columbia, Md./Oakland Mills) led the women with a personal-best 19:00.2. There was no team scoring in the meet.
PERSONAL BESTS
Eastern Michigan had three personal bests in their last time out at the EMU Fall Classic. Along with Kline and Moore, Drew Graves (Shelby Township, Mich./Henry Ford II).
UP NEXT
Eastern Michigan will continue postseason action at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional at Silver Creek Metropark in Norton, Ohio, Friday, Nov. 15.
