Cross Country Places Third at MAC Championships

Paige Marchant, Sam Peterson, and Ronan Codyre earned all-conference honors

– Both the men's and women's Eastern Michigan University cross country programs placed third at the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Cross Country Championships, hosted by Ball State University, at the Ball State Cross Country Course Saturday, Nov. 2.

The Eagles earned three all-conference honors. Paige Marchant (London, Ontario/Catholic Central) collected her second consecutive first team honor for the women's team. The EMU men saw Sam Peterson (Charlevoix, Mich./Charlevoix), and Ronan Codyre (Auckland, New Zealand/Macleans College) earn second-team accolades for the first time in their respective careers.    
 
How it Happened – Women
The Eastern women were led by Marchant who finished fourth in 20:31.8, collecting her second consecutive All-MAC First Team honor. Following Marchant was Marta Moreno (Wassenaar, Netherlands/American School of The Hague), who raced to a 15th place finish in 21:10.1.  
 
Anita Zaro (Timisoara, Romania/Faculty of Physical Education and Sport) ran closely with Liv Hatch (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) as the duo finished 24th and 25th respectively. Zaro completed the course in 21:35.3 while Hatch did so in 21:37.8.
 
Freshman Lucy Jones (Haverhill, England/Normanhurst School) placed 30th in 21:57.7, followed by fellow freshman Anna Bathellier (Ile d'Yeu, France/College Les Sicardieres), who crossed the finish line in 33rd in 22:03.0.
 
Chloie Musta (Mesick, Mich./Cadillac) secured a 46th-place finish in 22:18.1. Rounding out the Eagles' harriers in the women's race was Cara Weber (Union, Ky./Larry A. Ryle) (57th – 22:38.1) and Frankie Moore (Columbia, Md./Oakland Mills) (77th – 23:18.1).
 
How it Happened – Men
Peterson led the Eastern men with an eighth-place finish in 24:30.1. Codyre followed closely behind as he crossed the finish line in 11th place in 24:37.3. Ty Dailey (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) rounded out EMU's top-three finishers in 15th place, completing the 8k course in 24:44.4.
 
Kian Wiles (Hull, England/St. Mary's College) placed 21st in 24:56.8. Isaac Garcia (Greely, Col./South County) trailed closely behind Wiles, notching a 23rd place finish in 25:01.3. Lachlan Cornelius (Queensland, Australia/Anglican Church Grammar School) finished 36th in 25:27.7.
 
The next Eagle harrier to cross the line was Aaron Schwieterman (Miamisburg, Ohio/Miamisburg), who placed 58th in 26:35.0. AJ Hawkins (Worthington, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne) closed out the race for Eastern in 27:39.2.
