YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University lacrosse team is set to play its first home Mid-American Conference contest when it faces in-state rival Central Michigan University Wednesday, April 5 after competing in its inaugural MAC game with the University of Detroit Mercy on the road, April 1. The Eagles (1-8, 0-1 MAC), coming off a tough, 17-7 road loss at Detroit Mercy, will look to secure their first conference win in program history while the Chippewas (3-6, 1-0 MAC), the defending MAC champions, will be looking to gain momentum off their 13-8 home victory over Detroit Mercy, March 29.

OPENING DRAWS:
» The game time, originally set for 3 p.m., has been moved up to 11 a.m. due to the threat of severe weather predicted for the Ypsilanti area that day. Additionally, the game has also been moved to take place inside the Indoor Practice Facility rather than on Scicluna Field.
» Eastern fell in its first-ever MAC competition, a 17-7 setback to the Titans of Detroit Mercy, April 1.
» A win over CMU this week would give the Eagles a trio of firsts, including the program's first overall MAC win, the first home MAC win, and the first inside the Indoor Practice Facility.
» The game with Central will be the first of two this year between the two Michigan teams as the Eagles will travel to the Chippewas for the penultimate game of the regular season, April 26.
» Mackenzie Blackwell led the team with three goals against UDM, April 1, marking the third time this year and second game in a row in which she recorded a hat trick.
» Mackenzie Blackwell also recorded a team-high-tying six draw controls, marking the fifth time this year she has recorded five or more in a single game.
» Edie Prager scored a pair of goals at Detroit Mercy, marking the first goals and points of her collegiate career. She also fired four shots, one more than her previous career best.
» Abby Alderman recorded two assists against the Titans to join Sydney Lawrence as the only Eagles to record multiple helpers in multiple games this year after also assisting on a pair of goals at Xavier, March 12.
» Amber Alderman and Mackenzie Blackwell each scored woman-up goals for the Eagles, marking just the second time this year EMU has scored multiple woman-up goals.
» Sydney Lawrence is averaging 2.00 caused turnovers per game. That number leads the MAC and ranks 18th nationally.
» Four EMU members of the lacrosse program have previous ties with Central Michigan University in Head Coach Sara Tisdale, Assistant Coaches Allison Lane and Tayra Prince, and fifth-year student-athlete Julie Lindsey.

QUICK REVIEW • DETROIT MERCY: The EMU lacrosse team fell in its inaugural MAC game Saturday, April 1, as Detroit Mercy used an eight-goal fourth quarter to take a 17-7 victory at Titan Field. The Eagles received three goals from Mackenzie Blackwell – her third hat trick of the year – and a pair from Edie Prager in the loss while the Titans saw five players score at least two goals on the day.

SCOUTING CENTRAL MICHIGAN: The Chippewas enter the week with a 3-6 record and stand as one of three conference members with a 1-0 MAC record to start (Kent State 1-0, Robert Morris 1-0) after defeating Detroit Mercy, 13-8, in both teams' league opener, March 29. CMU has played just two games against common opponents for the Eagles, including a 17-9 drop to Marquette, and the 13-8 victory over UDM. Offensively, Maggie Diebold leads the way for the Chippewas with a team-high 25 goals and 31 points while Audrey Whiteside carries a team-high nine assists. Defensively, two goalies have seen action with Alexa Martel starting eight games. She has saved 90 shots and allowed 89 goals for a 50.3 save percentage and a 12.21 goals-against average.

WEARING MULTIPLE HATS: Mackenzie Blackwell led the team with three goals against the Titans, April 1, marking the third time this year and second game in a row in which she recorded a hat trick. The team's leader in scoring with 18 goals on the year, Blackwell has now recorded at least two goals in six of the nine games played this year.

DRAWING CIRCLES: Mackenzie Blackwell also recorded a team-high-tying six draw controls at Detroit Mercy, April 1, marking the fifth time this year she has recorded five or more won draw's in a single game. Abby Alderman was the other Eagle with six draw controls, which was one shy of career-best seven recorded one game prior at Butler.

CASHING IN!: Edie Prager scored a pair of goals in the setback at Detroit Mercy, April 1, marking the first goals and points of her collegiate career. She also fired four shots, one more than her previous career best set against Delaware State, March 7.

ABBY'S ASSISTANCE: Abby Alderman recorded two assists in the game against the Titans, April 1, to join teammate Sydney Lawrence as the only Eagles to record multiple helpers in multiple games this year after also assisting on a pair of goals at Xavier, March 12. Her two assists tie for the second-most in a single game in program history.

KICK-EM WHILE THEY'RE DOWN!: Amber Alderman and Mackenzie Blackwell each scored woman-up goals for the Eagles, April 1, marking just the second time this year EMU has scored multiple woman-up goals. The only other time it has happened came March 12 at Xavier when Blackwell scored two times when Eastern was up.

FOLLOWING THE LAW(RENCE): Sydney Lawrence is averaging 2.00 caused turnovers per game. That number leads the MAC and ranks 18th nationally. Additionally, her 0.75 free-position goals per game also leads the league, ranking 48th in the nation.

NEXT BEST: The EMU lacrosse team currently holds the No. 2 position in the MAC rankings in three different statistical categories. With a 47.4 free-position percentage, the Green and White rank second in the league and 32nd nationally. Its 7.75 caused turnovers per game average and 0.49 draw controls per game also rank second in the MAC and 62nd, and 72nd in the nation, respectively.

FAMILIAR FACES: Four EMU members of the lacrosse program have previous ties with Central Michigan in Head Coach Sara Tisdale, Assistant Coaches Allison Lane and Tayra Prince, and fifth-year student-athlete Julie Lindsey. Tisdale, the former head coach of the Chippewas, left a Central Michigan program she built from the ground up and led to national prominence, posting a 2018 Southern Conference Championship, a 2022 Mid-American Conference Regular Season Championship, and a 2022 MAC Tournament Championship. Lane served as a Graduate Assistant Coach (2018-20) and Volunteer Assistant Coach (2020-2021) at Central Michigan under Tisdale while Prince was named as an assistant coach of the Chippewa's in January 2022 before making the decision to follow Tisdale to Eastern. All three coaches had the chance to lead Julie Lindsey as a member of the Chippewas team.

UP NEXT: Following the midweek contest against CMU, the Eagles will travel to Youngstown, Ohio, Saturday, April 8, for a conference meeting with the Penguins at 1 p.m.
