KEWADIN,(EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University sophomore Alyssa DiMarcantonio (Maple, Ontario-Tommy Douglas Secondary School) needed three playoff holes to finally secure medalist honors at the A-Ga-Ming Invitational Monday, Sept. 5. The Maple, Ontario product finished the round with a 76 and a two-day tally of 220 (7173-76), tied with Oakland University's Bridget Boczar. In the end, DiMarcantonio edged Boczar to capture her first collegiate victory on the 57th hole of the weekend at the par 72, 5,832-yard A-Ga-Ming Sundance course.
Eastern Michigan finished fifth as a team with a cumulative score of 913 (304-301-308). Oakland took home the team title with a three-round mark of 897 (300-297-300), while Central Michigan University (900) and Western Michigan University (910) followed closely behind.
How It Happened
The win was the first of DiMarcantonio's career as well as the best showing in 11 all-time events. Her previous best finish was a fourth-place at the Lady Jaguar Invitational, April 16-17, 2022. The two-day tally of 220 was also 10 shots better than DiMarcantonio's previous standard of 230 at the Rio Verde Invitational, Feb. 25-27, 2022.
Sophomore Kyleigh Dull (Fremont, Ohio-Lakota) tied for 10th with a 227 (74-75-78), while senior Natai Apichonlati (Bangkok, Thailand-The Regent's International School) added a 232 (77-75-80) in a tie for 17th-place. Junior Tatyana Nyambane (Nairobi, Kenya-Nord Anglia International School Dubai) showed continuous improvement in 35th with a 243 (91-78-74) and senior Olivia Loberg (Bend, Ore.-Summit) rounded out the team scoring with a 250 (85-84-81) in 42nd. Meanwhile, playing as an individual, senior Adeline Lau (Sa Rawak, Malaysia-SMK Bintulu-Michigan Dearborn) is tied for 43rd with a 169 (85-84)..
