Eagles will look to build off their historic run from 2025-26 that ended in the NCAA semifinals

YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team will compete in 11 events over the course of the 2026-27 season with the Eagles, who are coming off a historic run to the semifinals of the 2026 NCAA Championships, looking to build off the momentum of a successful 2025-26 campaign, EMU Head Coach and 2026 Golfweek National Women's Coach of the Year Josh Brewer announced today, Aug. 27. The Eagles, who not only competed in the NCAA Regionals and NCAA Championships for the first time in program history but also advanced to the semifinal round of match play, will play five events in the fall and five in the spring before heading into the postseason in late April.
The fall slate will feel familiar to the Eagles as their first four events mirror the early stages of the 2025-26 season, starting with the Leadership & Golf Invitational, Sept. 14-15, at Chambers Bay in University Park, Wash., an event that Eastern won both the team and individual titles at in 2025 with Janae Leovao capturing her second consecutive tournament crown of the season. One week later, the Eagles head to the mountains of Colorado to compete in the Golfweek Red Sky Classic at Red Sky Ranch in Wolcott, Colo., Sept. 21-23, one year after tying for seventh place.
Eastern returns to the Oklahoma Intercollegiate, Oct. 5-6, with the event moving to Wichita Country Club in Wichita, Kan. The Eagles tied for second place last year in the two-round, rain-shortened event. Eastern will then head to the Hawaiian Islands for the Rainbow Wahine Invitational, Oct. 5-6, at Hokuala Golf Club in Lihu'e.
The Eagles will travel to Atlanta, Ga., Oct. 26-28, for the 12th East Lake Cup, a prestigious event pitting four of the top women's and men's teams from the previous season's NCAA match play tournament against one another. In the women's event, the Eagles (No. 5 seed and national semifinalist) will compete against Arkansas (No. 3 seed and national semifinalist), Oklahoma State (No. 6 seed and national quarter-finalist), and USC (No. 2 seed and national runner up). The four teams will play one round of stroke play on Oct. 26 with the standings determining the seeding for match play. The No. 1 seed will play the No. 4 while the No. 2 plays the No. 3 on Oct. 27 with the winners meeting for the title on Oct. 28 while the non-winning teams play for third place.
Following the winter break, the Eagles will return to action, Feb. 13-15, in another familiar tournament as they will take part in the Alice & John Wallace Golf Classic at Monterey Country Club in Palm Desert, Calif., an event EMU took second place last year. One week later, the Eagles will head to Valencia Country Club in Valencia, Calif., for the Bruin Wave Invitational, Feb. 22-23, an annual event hosted by both UCLA and Pepperdine that features several highly ranked teams.
The start of March will see Eastern head to the Sunshine State for the Gators Invitational, March 6-7, at Mark Bostic Golf Course in Gainesville, Fla. The Eagles will then return to California to play host to the 2nd Annual GameAbove Invitational, an event EMU and USC will host at Saticoy Country Club in Somis, Calif. Eastern returns to Florida, March 21-22, to take part in the Florida State Match Up at Seminole Legacy Golf Course, the same course the Eagles finished fourth on at the NCAA Tallahassee Regional last year to advance to the national tournament. From there, the final regular season tournament of the season awaits in Dallas, Texas, as the Eagles will compete in the Huntington Bank Collegiate, April 5-6, at Trinity Forest Golf Club, a course that will also host one of the six NCAA regional competitions one month later.
The Mid-American Conference Championships will return to the Fazio Course at Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio, April 25-27, with Eastern Michigan serving as the tournament host. The winner of the team title will earn the conference's automatic berth into the NCAA Regionals, May 10-12, at various sites throughout the nation. The six sites that will be used in 2027 include Old Barnwell Golf Course in Aiken, S.C.; Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas; Sycamore Hills Golf Club in Fort Wayne, Ind.; Vanderbilt Legends Golf Club in Franklin, Tenn.; PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; and Stanford Golf Course in Stanford, Calif.
The top five teams in the final standings at each regional location will advance to the 2027 NCAA Championships that will once again be hosted by the NCAA and the University of Texas at Omni La Costa Resort in Carlsbad, Calif. Last year, the Eagles, who had never qualified to the regional round, earned an at-large selection to the NCAA Tallahassee Regional where they placed fourth overall to punch their ticket to the NCAA Championships. At the national tournament, Eastern, who was ranked No. 226 two years prior, finished fifth overall in the four-round stroke play tournament and earned a spot in the match play event. The fifth-seeded Eagles scored a 3.5-1.5 upset of fourth-seeded Texas in the quarterfinals before falling to eventual national champion Stanford in the semifinals. The tie for third place marked the highest finish for an EMU women's team in school history.
