WOLCOTT, Colo. (EMUEagles.com) -- Karen Tsuru finished 13th overall and was one of five players to finish below par to help the Eastern Michigan University women's golf team finish sixth at the 2026 Golfweek Red Sky Classic, Sept. 21-23, at Red Sky Golf Club in Wolcott, Colo. The Eagles broke the program record for overall score in a 54-hole tournament by six strokes and bettered the single-round scoring mark by seven after shooting a closing-round 16-under 272 as a team, which tied for the second-best round of the day among the 20 teams in the field.
No. 2 USC ran away with the title as the Trojans shot 47-under 817 while Miami (Fla.) took second place at 33-under 831, which edged out both No. 5 Texas A&M and No. 14 Pepperdine, who tied for third place at 32-under 832, and No. 16 LSU, who was fifth at 31-under 833. The Eagles, ranked No. 20 in the Golfweek Preseason Top 30, finished just ahead of No. 30 Arizona, who finished seventh at 20-under 844. Fellow Mid-American Conference foe Ball State was in the field and finished 14th overall at 9-over 873.
Tsuru (Carlsbad, Calif./San Diego Virtual School/Oregon), in her second tournament for the Eagles after transferring in from Oregon, led the charge as she was 13th overall at 9-under 207 (72-68-67), a score that tied for the second-lowest in program history behind the 204 recorded by Savannah de Bock (Ecaussinnes-d'enghien, Belgium/Institut de l'Enfant-Jésus-Lycée/Georgia) two years ago at the same event. Tsuru's score ranked as the third-best of her career after shooting 203 to win the Juli Inkster Invitational (2025) and 204 at the Alice & John Wallace Invitational (2025) with the Ducks. Additionally, Tsuru shot 67 in the third round and 68 in the second to tie for third and 12th, respectively, on the program's single-round list.
De Bock tied for 23rd to give the Eagles a pair of top 25 finishers in the field of 102 players as she shot 5-under 211 (70-73-68) to tie for the ninth-best score in team history and give her seven of the top 12 marks on the 54-hole ledger. She was followed by Mariana Vega (Barranquilla, Columbia/Colegio Karl C. Parrish), who, playing as an individual, shot a career-low 3-under 213 (71-74-68) to tie for the 13th-best score in program history. Vega, who tied for the low score among all nine individuals in the field, finished a tournament under par for the first time in her career and beat her previous career-low score of 217 she recorded at the Gators Invitational in 2025.
Constanza Quiroga (Cochabamba, Bolivia/Tiquipaya School/Troy) tied for 34th at 2-under 214 (72-74-68) while Baiyok Sukterm (Bang Yi, Thailand/Panitchayakan Rajdamnern Tech/Lindsey Wilson) tied for 40th at 1-under 215 (71-75-69) to post the 15th and 19th-best scores in program history. Laura Gorgees Baeta (Zaragoza, Spain/IES Ortega y Gassett) rounded out the Eagles in the tournament as she tied for 71st at 6-over 222 (76-71-75).

» Karen Tsuru turned in her best performance of her short EMU career as the fourth-year player shot 9-under 207 (72-68-67) for the third-lowest score of her career after shooting 203 to win the Juli Inkster Invitational (March 3-4, 2025) and 204 at the Alice & John Wallace Invitational (Feb. 15-17, 2025) while playing for Oregon. Her 207 strokes in Colorado this week tied for the second-lowest 54-hole score in program history and was three strokes off the record of 204 shot by Savannah de Bock at 2024 Golfweek Red Sky Classic.
» Karen Tsuru used rounds of 67 (third round) and 68 (second) to climb the standings. Her final-round 67 tied for the third-lowest single-round score in Eastern Michigan history while her 68 tied for 12th on the list. All told, while adding in her opening-round 72, Tsuru shot par or better in all three rounds of a tournament for the fifth time in her career and posted multiple rounds in the 60's for the fourth time in her career.
» Savannah de Bock tied for 23rd overall after shooting 5-under 211 (70-73-68), a score that tied for ninth on the program's 54-hole list. With her latest addition, de Bock owns seven of the top 12 scores on the program's list and used a final-round 68 to post the 50th round of par or better in her career.
» Mariana Vega had an outstanding tournament as an individual competitor as she tied for 31st at 3-under 213 (71-74-68) to record the best 54-hole score of her career after previously shooting 217 at the Gators Invitational (March 7-9, 2025) in her first year. Vega, who tied for the top spot among the nine individual competitors in the field, recorded two rounds below par for just the second time in her career with the first coming at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational (Oct. 21-23, 2024) to help her tie for 13th-lowest 54-hole score in program history.
» Constanza Quiroga tied her career-low score after shooting 2-under 214 (72-74-68), matching the score she posted last year at the Lady Redwolves Classic (Oct. 13-14, 2025) while playing for Troy. Her 214 strokes tied for the 15th-lowest in program history while her final-round 68 tied for 12th on the program's single-round list.
» Baiyok Sukterm tied for 40th at 1-under 215 (71-75-69) to tie for 19th on the program's all-time 54-hole scoring list. The finish marked the 16th time in her career she has finished an event under par.
» Rookie Laura Gorgees Baeta finished tied for 71st after shooting 6-over 222 (76-71-75). Her score improved her career-best by four strokes after she shot 226 at the Leadership & Golf Invitational last week.

» Eastern fired a program-record 21-under 843 (285-286-272) to finish sixth overall as all three individual rounds ranked among the top 20 all-time in program history. The overall score of 843 shattered the previous record of 849 the team recorded at the Chevron Silverado Showdown (April 6-8, 2026) while also breaking the program's to-par score from the same event by six strokes.
» The team's third-round score of 16-under 272 bettered the previous record by seven strokes after the Eagles shot 279 in the opening round of the Silicon Valley Showcase, March 30, 2026. The 16-under 272 tied for the second-best round of the day with Pepperdine while LSU led the way at 17-under 271.
» Eastern added scores of 3-under 285 in the first rounds and 2-under 286 in the second round to tie for 14th and tie for 20th, respectively, on the program's single-round scoring list.
