Three Players Added to 2026-27 Women’s Golf Roster

One rookie and two transfers set to join the program this fall
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) -- The Eastern Michigan University women's golf team has added three players for the 2026-27 season, Head Coach Josh Brewer announced today, Aug. 26. The trio of new Eagles includes first-year player Laura Gorgees Baeta from Spain and a pair of transfers in Constanza Quiroga (Bolivia), who comes to Ypsilanti from Troy University, and Karen Tsuru (Carlsbad, Calif.), who transferred in from the University of Oregon.
"We are excited to welcome another talented group to Ypsilanti," Brewer said of the newest Eagles. "Our trio of new players brings high-level experience in competing and winning against the world's best. Everyone knows last year's team produced amazing results, but each year is different. To continue to have long-term success, you must have the correct pieces to your program, and this trio is exactly what we expect from our players. They come from loving families, strong support groups, and have a relentless attitude of wanting to compete. We are excited to have them in our program and are looking forward to seeing them compete for Eastern Michigan this year."
Gorgees Baeta (Zaragoza, Spain/IES Ortega y Gasset) is entering her first year as a collegiate golfer and, under the NCAA's new age-based eligibility model, will have five years to compete. A native of Zaragoza, Spain, she attended IES Ortega y Gasset and the National School BLUME of the Spanish Golf Federation before signing with Eastern Michigan. On the course, she captured numerous national titles, including age-group victories at the national tournaments for U10, U12, U14, U16, and U18 levels in Spain. Already in 2026, she has played 12 tournaments and secured two wins while adding two more top five showings.
Quiroga (Cochabamba, Bolivia) comes to Ypsilanti after playing her first collegiate season at Troy last year and has four years of eligibility remaining. During her single season with the Trojans, she climbed the national rankings and finished the 2025-26 season ranked No. 562 in the Scoreboard/Clippd listing. During the season, she competed in 10 events and places in the top 10 twice, including securing medalist honors at the 2025 The Velvet Classic (Sept. 15-16, 2025), her second collegiate event. Quiroga, who placed 10th at the Lady Red Wolves Classic, also finished 27th at the Florida State Match Up, an event Eastern Michigan finished second in the team standings. The winner of the 2023 South American Junior Championship and the 2024 International Junior Championship in Peru, she was a member of the Bolivia Junior National Team that competed in the 2023 World Amateur Team Championship in Abu Dhabi. She is the second member of the Quiroga family to join the Eastern Michigan golf program as her younger brother, Vicente, joined the men's team this season.
Tsuru (Carlsbad, Calif./San Diego Virtual School/Oregon) will have two years of eligibility at Eastern Michigan after playing the previous three seasons at Oregon where she earned All-America and all-conference accolades. A 2025-26 Golfweek Preseason All-American Third Team and 2024-25 WGCA All-America Honorable Mention selection, Tsuru was a member of a Ducks program that competed at the NCAA Regionals all three years she was in Eugene, Ore., and advanced to the NCAA Championships in 2023 and 2025 where the Ducks reached match play both times, including the national semifinals in 2025. She is coming off a 2025-26 season in which she competed in the Big Ten Championships and the NCAA Waco Regional and a 2024-25 season that saw her finish the year ranked No. 33 in the final Scoreboard/Clippd rankings after she captured her first collegiate victory by taking medalist honors at the 2025 Juli Inkster Invitational (March 3-4, 2025). She also has been ranked among the top 100 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings during her career and was rated as the No. 11 recruit in the Class of 2023 by Golfweek.
