Swim & Dive Heads Into Day Three of MAC Championships in Third Place

The Eagles return to the pool tomorrow with preliminaries beginning at 10:30 a.m.

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (EMUEagles.com) – On day two of the Mid-American Conference Championships, the Eastern Michigan University swimming and diving team took home eight top-10 finishes and currently sit third in the MAC standings.
The Eagles have totaled a score of 168 after the first two days, putting the Green and White in third behind only Buffalo (228.5) and Akron (312.5).
How It Happened
EMU's most successful event of the day came in the 1-meter dive where the Eagles secured three divers in the top five. Senior Bethany Berger (Batavia, Ohio-Glen Este) placed second with a score of 315.30, while freshman Camryn Hughes (London, Ontario-Sir Frederick Banting Secondary) took third with a mark of 290.65, and sophomore Keira Veltigian (Oxford, Mich.-Oxford) finished fifth with a score of 275.45. The mark for Berger ranks third all-time in EMU's program history in the event.
In the pool, senior Riley Hofmann (Ada, Mich.-Forest Hills Central) finished ninth with a time of 4:54.83 in the 500-yard freestyle, followed by freshman Lucie Fioux (Clermont-Ferrand, France-Godefroy de Bouillon) right behind her for 10th with a time of 4:54.92.
In the 50-yard freestyle, freshman Katie Shoen (Owego, N.Y.-Owego Free Academy) took eighth place with a time of 23.35.
Sophomore Carlin Hudson (Chattanooga, Tenn.-Chattanooga School for the Arts & Sciences) finished the 200 IM with a time of 2:03.93. That mark puts Hudson 10th all-time in program history in the event at Eastern.
