Swim and Dive Readies for Golden Grizzly Classic

The Eagles will compete in four days of action
YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – The Eastern Michigan University swim and dive teams will travel to Rochester, Mich. to compete in Oakland University's Golden Grizzly Classic, beginning Dec. 3, 5 p.m., continuing through Dec. 6.
Teams competing in the meet alongside Eastern and Oakland include Grand Canyon University, Wayne State University, and Dartmouth College.
Following the 5 p.m. start on Wednesday, Dec. 3, the remainder of the sessions Dec. 4-6 will begin at 9 a.m. All sessions of the classic will be streamed here.

Last Time Out
The Eagles last competed against Oakland University, Nov. 19, resulting in a loss of 111-189 points. Eastern won four events in the pool, seeing Nina Larosa (Bay Village, Ohio/Bay), improve her program top 10 time in the 100y breaststroke with a winning time of 1:02.30, moving from spot No. 7 to No. 5. Also earning a top 10 program time was Shayne Patrick (Reno, Nev./TMCC Magnet), as she won the 200y butterfly with a personal best time of 2:02.86 that earned her spot No. 10 in program history. Additionally, Nehir Oz (Istanbul, Turkey/Cevre), earned an event win in the 500y freestyle with a time of 4:57.16, and Tristen Mina (Santa Clara, Calif./The King's Academy), also won an event, finishing the 100y butterfly with a time of 55.85.
On the diving side, Rose Kendrick (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva), earned first place in the one-meter dive, scoring a personal best 273.98 points, along with taking second place in the three-meter with another personal best performance of 266.33 points. Also earning a podium spot in the three-meter was Megan Lupa (Campden, Ont./West Niagara Secondary), scoring 249.08.

The Eagles will have the rest of the month off and resume competition Jan. 16, as they will travel to Oxford, Ohio to compete against Miami University at 2 p.m.
