YPSILANTI, Mich. (EMUEagles.com)-- The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team travels to St. Charles, Mo. to face off with Lindenwood University Sunday, Feb. 2, at 1 p.m.
The Eagles enter the competition coming off a home loss to Mid-American Conference and in-state foe Western Michigan University, 195.175-194.650, Jan. 24. Lindenwood returns home after a trip to Texas where it placed third, scoring 192.325, in a quad meet with Texas Women's University, Kent State University, and the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, Jan. 26.

LAST TIME OUT: EMU fell late to WMU, 195.175-194.650, on Epilepsy Awareness Day at the Convocation Center, Jan. 24. The Green and White attempted to mount a comeback late with Senior Emili Dobronics and junior Jada Rondeau both scoring 9.825 on floor, but it wasn't enough to hold off the Broncos. Rondeau had her best day of the season so far, scoring 9.800 on vault, and 9.825 on beam and floor, all season-best performances. The Savage, Minn. native also placed first in the all-around competition with a score of 39.175.
Sophomore Kara Roberts had career-highs on the beam and floor, hitting 9.700 and 9.800, respectively. Those scores helped lift her to her career-high all-around score of 39.000.
RELIABLE RONDEAU: Junior Jada Rondeau has been reliable for the Green and White so far this season. The Savage, Minn. native ranks in the top 10 in the MAC in all-around (third), on bars (fourth), beam (fourth), and floor (seventh). The junior is ranked 42nd nationally in all-around as well.
LAST TIME AGAINST THE LIONS: The last time the Eagles and Lions met was at the Temple Quad, March 11, 2018. EMU placed third at the event (195.725) behind Lindenwood who earned 196.400 to take first place. Host-Temple finished second with a score of 196.050 and Rutgers ended the day fourth, scoring 194.500. Then-freshman Jada Rondeau scored 9.750 on bars and 9.825 on floor. Fellow freshman at the time, Cortney Bezold, scored 9.825 on bars, tying for fifth in the event. Then-sophomore Emili Dobronics placed fourth in the all-around competition with a score of 38.850.
CALL IT A COMEBACK: Sophomore Kara Roberts returns to the gym after sitting out her freshman year due to injury. The highly anticipated debut of the Pinckney, Mich. native did not disappoint as she tied for second in the all-around competition at Bowling Green, Jan. 11, with teammate Jada Rondeau, scoring 38.925. Roberts ranks sixth in the Mid-American Conference with an average all-around score of 38.933 and 54th nationally.
BEZOLD ON BARS: Junior Cortney Bezold has started her season where she left off last year, having already hit two scores of 9.850 on bars. The junior ranks second in the MAC on the apparatus with an average score of 9.833, good for 66th nationally.
ATTACK THE MAC: The Eagles are making noise within the Mid-American Conference, sitting second in average overall score (194.567), 35th nationally. The Green and White rank high in a few categories throughout the conference including first on bars (48.808), second on beam (48.558), and third on floor (48.700).
DARING DOBRONICS: A three-time regional qualifier, senior Emili Dobronics is working towards making it four-straight. The senior and captain of this year's squad currently ranks fifth on floor in the Mid-American Conference and 91st nationally, averaging 9.825 in the event. The Orland Park, Ill. native has already hit scores of 9.850 (at Bowling Green, Jan. 11), and 9.825 (versus Western Michigan, Jan. 24).
FRESHMAN FORCE: The Eagles brought in seven freshman gymnasts this year and put them to work. EMU has four freshman that have competed so far this season in Hannah Hartung, Arileyah Harris, Molly Parris, and Mickayla Stuckey. Only Central Michigan in the MAC has more freshman seeing the competition floor at this point in the season with five.
ON THE HORIZON: The Eagles return home to the Convocation Center to welcome reigning MAC Champions Northern Illinois University Friday, Feb. 7 at 6 p.m. The meet will serve as Senior Night for the Green and White who will honor four of its seniors.
