Stevenson Paces EMU On Opening Day of Fossum Invitational

Julia Stevenson is tied for 13th with an opening day total of 151
EAST LANSING, Mich. (EMUEagles.com) – Senior Julia Stevenson (Milford, Mich.-Milford) turned in the top score for the Eastern Michigan University women's golf team, shooting 76 and 75 on the first day of the Mary Fossum Invitational, Sept. 22. As a team, the Eagles turned in a team score of 624 (317-307) on the par 72, 6,315-yard Forest Akers West Golf Course.
Host Michigan State sits on top of the field by 20 strokes with a 588 (298-290). Western Kentucky is in second place with a 608 followed by Boston University (611), Princeton (614), and South Dakota State (620). MSU's Paz Marfa is the individual leader at 142 (73-69).
Senior Maria Connelly (Waterville, Ohio-Anthony Wayne) is tied for 23rd with a 155 (78-78), while sophomore Green Apichonlati (Bangkok, Thailand-The Regent's International School) managed a 159 (81-78) for 37th. Junior Preaw Sripatrprasite (Bangkok, Thailand-Siam International) and senior Katelin Lawson (LaSalle, Ontario- Ridge Community-Tampa) rounded out the lineup with a 161 (83-78) and a 163 (87-76), respectfully.
Tuesday's final round will get underway at 9 a.m. Admission is free to spectators.
